We're "Delmartians" - in the Town of Behlehem, just south of Albany. I love this upstate-downstate distinction!!! Could it be that if you live in NYC and close enough to routinely refer to it as "the city", that's downstate? I grew up in lower Westchester (definitely downstate, I would argue - but don't know about more northern parts of the county - LOL!!!) and lived for a while in "the city". (I don't remember using upstate/downstate terms when we were kids - when my cousins would visit their family in Ballston Spa, we all would just refer to it as "going to the farm"!!) So now I live near Albany and the first time I talked about going to "the city", no one was quite sure what I meant - so maybe I'm a downstater by birth and an upstater by geographic location...
But, I'm rambling - I'm all for organizing a gathering in the Capital District area.
