Upset, Thanksgiving 2008 booked up

I am so upset. I just bought a Class C MH to take my grandkids to Ft. Wilderness Thanksgiving week 2008 and they are booked up. I did exactly what Disney told me to do ie must wait 500 days out to book and when I called, they were already booked. I have not had to book at Ft. Summit KOA instead. What a bummer, I wanted to make this trip really special for the grandkids. Does anyone know if Ft. Summit KOA is nice, they do have a shuttle service to the MK etc.

Keep trying. More availability will pop up. Folks will cancel. It may be that since Thanksgiving is one of those dates that have a higher rate, that the computer just doesn't have it available yet. They JUST implemented this new system of variable rates for different days, so give them a bit to get the bugs worked out.

I agree to keep trying. We have had it be all booked when it was 500 days out then called when it was closer and gotten a site.

FTW is not booked they AREN'T taking ressies. Every christmas we camp at the ft. and then when we get home I call to reserve for the following yr. They tell me it's booked. Finally, I asked what is the deal? Like you said 500 days and I was clearly in that zone. I got the answer-they said the computer wouldn't allow them the access. I waited to the date they suggested and called back. i got in with no problem and they had lots of sites.
I camped in Dec. and then had to call in jan.-I don't get it but it has happened for the last 2 yrs. So try calling after thanksgiving and see what happens. You never know...

Yea, I doubt they are totally booked for Thanksgiving 2008, that is still way too far out. I know it's popular but I can't imagine it already being booked. We almost always make our reservations right after Thanksgiving for the following year and have never had a problem.

Last year, I started trying to get thanksgiving at the end of september. After about three weeks of trying, I got the entire week. I checked in with 4 different reservations to make it work.

The rack rates are up on mousesavers.com for 2008. It's interesting that Thanksgiving weekend is a little higher than the rest of the pre-holiday season, but it's still really inexpensive compared to regular and peak, which are from mid-february through August.

I hope it's just a computer thing and you can get your site reservation soon!

We camp at FW the week of Thanksgiving and on the drive home I call and book the next year. I find it hard to believe that they are already completely booked... keep trying!!

No, they are not booked up. Keep trying!! Keep your reservations at Ft. Summit until you get reserved at Ft. Wilderness. Ft. Summit is a nice KOA, but you may hear traffic noise from I-4.

WDW Reservation Central has to be the most unorganized department in all of Disney! I have had to call as many as 25 times in one day to get the dates I wanted. Just be patient.

I just booked that week today with no problem. I booked online. For room only, I was able to get either a full hook up or a preferred. When I did a search for a package, only a tent site or pop up was available. I didn't book that so maybe you can grab it now. Of course, I don't know what type of rig you have. Just keep trying. I don't think you'll have any problem. There are lots of folks like me who have to cancel more trips than I actually get to take!
