upset i don't get it!

Hi everyone. I'm a little upset and confused at the same time. I got some pictures developed and noticed something weird about most of the vertical ones. So I brought up the original picture on the computer and I see that about an inch of picture is missing in the developed one.
Is this supossed to happen or is it the place that I get them developed?

The Ratio of the original image does not match the print size, so the lab automaticaly crops for you.

If your camera captures images with a 4:3 ratio(as most point and shoot digitals do), there is no standard print size that will allow printing without any cropping.

Only thing I can recommend is cropping them your self to the ratio you are going to print at, that way you decide what gets cropped out.

EXAMPLEs
A 3:2 ratio could print at 6x4, 12x8, and 18x12 inch prints with no cropping since they are all the same multiples.

A 4:3 ratio would yield something like 4x3, 8x6, 12x9 inch prints with no cropping, but those are not exatcly standard sized prints.

Snapfish now offers digital print size printing.

I have used Snapfish for over a year now and the digital print size printing works great! They give you an option of choosing it and then apply it to the pictures that "need" this.

hi thanks for the tips. I am noticing that it's all on the vertical pictures and the cropping is done on the right side, when the proper thing would have been to crop the left side. I know it's just the computer doing it but it's kinda not fair you know?
