Uppy, Uppy, Mr. Andy -- Update -- WRAP UP -- Post 1346, Page 90

OKW is really pretty. I love the grounds! I can't wait to see pictures of the pool area!

I'm going to do pool pictures after these responses.

Hm, OKW looks somewhat familiar ...... as if I had been there before! :rotfl2:

Thanks for making me even more homesick for it! :lmao: Loved the photos of your studio, we have never been in one, so it was nice seeing them too. Did you get to peak into a 1 bedroom?

Oh, and the studio you were in ........ your room number is our postal code! :rotfl2:

Gee, I wonder why that is Karin? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: No, we never got to see the one-bedroom; but this was sufficient for the three of us for only four nights.

Great photos of OKW....we took the boat from there to DTD on our spring trip, looks really pretty, but so BIG!

Know what you mean about taking so many photos at AKL....I have an album from our spring trip that's just AK and AKL photos !!

Lisa, it is big, but so is the Coronado (our "home away from home"), the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Itg really depends on where you end up and there is an internal bus that drives strictly around the resort.

Where have you all been my whole life??? I feel like I'm surrounded by CARDS fans here in OK! So happy to finally find some friends who are pulling for the Rangers! :thumbsup2

TONIGHT IS GOING TO BE THE NIGHT... right? :confused3:rotfl: A little stressed about how they couldn't get it done last night... time will tell. ;)

Amy, I'm sorry the game tonight is not going your way. You have to understand that we are DIEHARD Cubs fans. We have not won a World Series in over 100 years; the Cardinals are in our division and usually kick our butt and I don't like their manager -- probably because he coached that "other" team in Chicago at one point and diehard Cubs fans do not cheer for that other team. I would love to see the Rangers win their first ever World Series...they have two more innings to do it. I'm not giving up hope yet, but it doesn't look good.

Kathy - great photopass pictures! The HM ones are adorable!

I can't wait to read your thoughts on OKW!!! And I was also very happy to find I wasn't as far behind as I thought I was going to be when I logged on a bit ago! All caught up now! :goodvibes

We loved OKW. It is beautiful, quiet and peaceful, and you feel like you are somewhere else...an island somewhere or something.

I love that they were doing those HM shots all day, and not just at the party.

Old Key West looks so pretty and the room looks really nice.

So I left you with Mark and I heading to the General Store. We arrived and got these shots:

We purchased some instant oatmeal and bananas for Mark's breakfast, some beers for him and Andy when he arrived. I also got an OKW t-shirt and a magnet for my refrigerator (I'll have those pictures at the end when I post the souvenirs purchased). After the purchases were made, we walked over to the main pool to get some photos there:

Then we went to see the Dolphins near the playground. Aren't these guys just the cutest?

We then headed over to the Gurgling Suitcase because Kathy needed a Pina Colada:

Olivia's....where we would be eating on Tuesday before heading to the MNSSHP:

We drove back to our room and put the groceries away. There would be no swimming this day as I was hungry. We headed to the bus stop. We were on our way back to the Magic Kingdom for some dinner and EMH's with Mary and family:

Up next: where do we eat once at the MK?

I love that they were doing those HM shots all day, and not just at the party.

Old Key West looks so pretty and the room looks really nice.

I liked that they did that too. They didn't do it last year (I know we had a different pose last year).

The rooms were spacious and it was a reallly pretty resort. My son was mad when he got there and saw that it was on a golf course and he didn't bring his clubs. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

***I found last year's photo:

I have to laugh because I caught myself scrutinizing the Entenmann's doughnuts in the pictures from the General Store. They're all chocolate frosted with a white cake doughnut, which are just "okay". Now the chocolate frosted ones, but with a devil's food cake doughnut -- oh my! They're fantastic. But our grocery store, (and the OKW General Store apparently), hardly ever stocks them. Anyway, I think Entenmann's are a little expensive for a boxed doughnut, but if I ever see a buy-one-get-one-free sign on the display and they've got the devil's food chocolate doughnuts....they're going in my cart! ::yes::

Great updates Kathy, it's been another one of those weeks:confused3 I started my last stretch of vacation days on Wednesday and don't return to work until Nov 14 so hopefully I won't get so far behind!

Great updates! OKW looks so nice, I'd like to stay there someday! The pool area looks great and I love the location, right near DTD! :thumbsup2

Great update Kathy!!! I agree with Glen Entenmanns are expensive !!!I do remember when a box of them was a snck credit though ...Those were the days!!!

:thumbsup2 I am a buy one get one free Devils food doughnut buyer too. DS loves the chocolate on chocolate.

Love the tour around OKW Kathy.

That pool area is so cute with the Mickey slide and the dolphins.

Great pics of OKW - am glad you had the perfect location Kathy.

I love seeing pics of the different resort stores and noticing the differences - I made sure I visited them in each of the resorts we got to take in.

Love the pic of the dolphins - they sure are the cutest things ever :thumbsup2

what a fun looking pool/play area! love the decor of the store too!

Naturally, I was super behind and caught up with the links, so now I have a ton to comment on! Hopefully I'll remember it all!

1. I totally agree with you about the walk at AKL (or, for that matter, BC or YC or BWI) vs the walk at CSR -- I just had my first stay at AKL last week (loved it, of course!), and going down to the end of those looooooong hallways feels just as far to me as walking to the Rancho area at CSR!

2. I can't believe I didn't see that Save Me giraffe T-shirt when I was there! I have a total weakness for giraffes. Wasn't that momma/baby pair the cutest?

3. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed by my Boma breakfast. Maybe my expectations were too high? I'd like to go there for lunch someday, though.

4. Love bugs. Ew.

5. How great that both of your rooms were ready when you arrived! I always have awesome luck with that when I'm traveling alone, and terrible luck when I'm traveling with others. Which is kinda funny, since when I'm solo I don't mind so much if I have to wait to get into my room, whereas when my mom or my sisters are there it seems to matter more. Go figure.

6. I can't wait to see all your OKW pictures! Do you think it would be a big pain to stay there without a car, if you were planning on spending a lot of time at the resort, anyway?

Can't wait to read more!

I never knew there was so much to OKW resort, it really is such a pretty place from the pictures you took :goodvibes

Loving your OKW photos, the dolphin pics are cute :)

I was hoping the Photopass CD would come today but it did not. Hopefully tomorrow.

So in the meantime, here are the tentative plans for the January trip:

Thursday, January 26 -- Mary and the girls arrive around 5 p.m.; I arrive around 6 p.m. They are going to get something to eat and I will surprise them in the food court or at the ME. If we aren't too tired, we may go to Downtown Disney.

Friday, January 27 -- Magic Kingdom and then Epcot for Extra Magic Hours

Saturday, January 28 -- Animal Kingdom

Sunday, January 29 -- Hollywood Studios and then Magic Kingdom for Extra Macig Hours

Monday, January 30 -- Epcot

Tuesday, January 31 -- Fly home; we both have flights around 2 p.m. and I'm taking the girls and Mary to breakfast at Olivia's as a thank you for letting me tag along

I was going to ask you what airline you were flying on, but I see your flight is around 2. Sean is going home on AirTran, but his flight isnt until later. I thought it would be funny/coincidental if you were flying together. Right now he is scheduled to move to OKW on Friday for his last 4 nights. I know he is plotting out the EMH so maybe you'll bump in to each other Sunday night. Wish it was me going instead of him :guilty:

Day3143.jpg

My lighthouse!! Having never seen a real lighthouse, I absolutely fell in love with this one! It has infiltrated my house. I have stove burner covers with a black and white striped lighthouses on them, a table lamp, and some statues in the living room, and my bathroom was re-done with a lighthouse theme. Wallpaper border, rug, accesories....we even got a print of the OKW lighthouse for some reason as a gift from DVC, it is framed, and is supposed to go in there, but hasn't quite made it yet.

Day3154.jpg

Up next: where do we eat once at the MK?

Will we see a better picture of this shirt later? I haven;t seen that one before, but what I can see of it looks like something I may have to have Sean pick up for me in January!

Yay - another TR that I am caught up on!!! :cool1: Of course, by the time I get caught up on some others I will fall behind again on this one.

I was eyeballing the hot air balloon that week also. I tried to tell myself that I could handle it....fortunately it wasn't flying due to the winds, so I didn't have to test myself. :rolleyes1 I think it would be really neat to see everything from up there, but I'm afraid I would be so terrified that I wouldnt actually enjoy it.

Glenn, there was an Entemann's Outlet about 10 blocks from Mark's work and he used to stop there once a month to bring us goodies home. It was a :sad1: day when they closed it.

Great updates Kathy, it's been another one of those weeks:confused3 I started my last stretch of vacation days on Wednesday and don't return to work until Nov 14 so hopefully I won't get so far behind!

Queen, sorry things have been so busy. We all have those times when we can't do what we really want to do. :)

Great updates! OKW looks so nice, I'd like to stay there someday! The pool area looks great and I love the location, right near DTD! :thumbsup2

OKW is really nice. We never got to use the boat to go to DTD, but hope to do that next trip with the girls and Mary.

Great update Kathy!!! I agree with Glen Entenmanns are expensive !!!I do remember when a box of them was a snck credit though ...Those were the days!!!

I don't remember a box of those donuts being a snack credit. :scared1:

Love the tour around OKW Kathy.

That pool area is so cute with the Mickey slide and the dolphins.

I love that Mickey slide. I never got a chance to go down it (we never used the main pool), but it sure looks fun.

Great pics of OKW - am glad you had the perfect location Kathy.

I love seeing pics of the different resort stores and noticing the differences - I made sure I visited them in each of the resorts we got to take in.

Love the pic of the dolphins - they sure are the cutest things ever :thumbsup2

I love dolphins to begin with and those guys just made me smile.

what a fun looking pool/play area! love the decor of the store too!

The store was nicely themed. And all the kids, when we walked around, were having a great time with the games that were going on.

Naturally, I was super behind and caught up with the links, so now I have a ton to comment on! Hopefully I'll remember it all!

I'm glad I am not the only one who felt that way.

2. I can't believe I didn't see that Save Me giraffe T-shirt when I was there! I have a total weakness for giraffes. Wasn't that momma/baby pair the cutest?

I'm sorry I didn't buy it. The momma/baby were one of the highlights.

3. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed by my Boma breakfast. Maybe my expectations were too high? I'd like to go there for lunch someday, though.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your breakfast. We've never done lunch or dinner; you'll have to let me know what you think.

4. Love bugs. Ew.

They were disgusting this trip.

Go figure.

Isn't that always the way? We've been fortunate on all but one trip that our room was ready when we got there.

6. I can't wait to see all your OKW pictures! Do you think it would be a big pain to stay there without a car, if you were planning on spending a lot of time at the resort, anyway?

Can't wait to read more!

I don't think it is that big. There is a pool in every section so you'd always be near a pool; and they have the internal bus if you want to go to the main area -- Hospitality House, food, shop, etc. I'd like to stay again and actually walk the resort if it were cool enough.

I never knew there was so much to OKW resort, it really is such a pretty place from the pictures you took :goodvibes

It's a great place, Shannon.

Loving your OKW photos, the dolphin pics are cute :)

Thank you, Stefy. I loved those dolphins.

I was going to ask you what airline you were flying on, but I see your flight is around 2. Sean is going home on AirTran, but his flight isnt until later. I'm on United, going out of O'Hare. Be sure to have him say hello if he sees me (I'll ahve my KatMark backpack on during the trip.

Will we see a better picture of this shirt later? I haven;t seen that one before, but what I can see of it looks like something I may have to have Sean pick up for me in January!

Here's a picture of the shirt (I'll post it again when I do the "souvenir recap"):

Daygoinghomeandsouvenirsgifts035-1.jpg

They run small. I bought an extra large (I normally wear a large) and it was a little "tight."

I don't think I'd have a problem going up in the balloon; but I have a real problem with the price.

I hope you get your TR fixed. That is just really odd.
