uph versus php.. which is better?

hey everyone,

i have been looking through alot of posts and still cannot tell which is better for my family, the uph or php..

i have 2 adults and 2 children going to poly in april..

we will be there from april 18th until 26th, and are thinking of purchasing the ultimate park hopper (los)

and take off the last day, because our plane leaves at 12pm..

my boys are both 6 and beside wanting to go to disney we will also go to seaworld and universal..however i do see us going to disney at night or dq..

which would you purchase if you were in my shoes?

If you don't plan to be at the WDW parks every day, the UPH pass probably isn't your best bet since you'll be paying for days that you aren't using. If you get the regular park hopper ( or plus ) tickets, any unused days won't expire and can be used on your next trip.

UPH includes just about everything, including DQ. PHP do not include DQ and you can use the pluses for water parks or PI. PHP are good forever until you use the last day. UPH is only good from the day to check in until the day you check out (midnight that day).

That said, we purchased the UPH until we got PAPs. Now, when we bring someone along with us, we get them an UPH so they can do everything we do without an extra ticket.

If you think you will be going to DQ and the water parks a lot ( hopping around the World like we do), go with the UPH. If you will be skipping days and may go to DQ and the water parks once or twice, go with the PHP with Pluses.

If there is any chance that you are going to make it back to the parks within a year, I would go with an AP. Otherwise, the PHP is cheaper (plus you can keep what you don't use for another trip):

7 Night/8 Day UPH DVC = $380.21(A)/$304.59(C)

We usually get the regular AP, and then just pay for the few times that we go to water parks or PI.

PHP don't expire, UMP expire at Midnight on the day that you check out. If you don't go to a park for whatever reason (sickness is usually the biggie), then you loose out on that day, and what it cost you. With the PHP, whatever you don't use can be saved for your next trip. Unless you are planning to go to the waterparks and PI everyday that you are there, the PHP is the way to go!

If you're going to Seaworld and Universal I would recommend PHPs. I'll assume 2 days for universal and one day for Seaworld. That's three days you won't be going to any of the main parks. I know you say you may go to Disney on those evenings, but those parks will take all day. By the time you get back to your resort you will either be too tired to go to a main park or it will be too late. (Nothing would prevent you from using a plus option for PI).

With three days at other parks you are down from 9 days at Disney to 6. Plus, depending on arrival time or departure time you may not be doing a park on one of those days. Now you may be down to 5 days at Disney.

With an UPH you'll be paying for all nine days. With a five or six day PHP you'll only be paying for days at Disney, and it will be less money. Plus, unused days never expire. Although DQ is not included, you can always pay for an admission separately. Check out ticketmania.com for info on a discount ticket to DQ.

I think the PHP is your best bet.

It's probably cheaper to buy the PHP even if you DO go into a park every day. It's still less money. Then if you DON'T use a day you can save it for next time.

I doubt I would do DQ and a park on the same day. Even if I happened to, it would still come out to be less overall.

Unless you're bouncing from DQ to parks to water parks every day, I would get the PHP.
