Upgrading used ticket question

I have a 3 day Costco ticket and used the first day in June I called and asked if I go in October and upgraded to AP what value will it have and how long will it be good till.

The answer was expiration one year from the first use which is June.
The value would be based on a 3 day ticket current price which is $185.
I paid $150 and used one day so my question is does this seem right?

I know at Disney you get a different answer from whoever you talk too but not sure how accurate talking to someone at Guest Services at Universal is.
This is from someone at guest services who does tickets.

I don't want to plan a quick trip get there and this be wrong since my ticket doesn't expire till end of 2015 and I would use the last 2 days next summer.

the last time i did any upgrading on tickets was back in january.
they scanned the ticket to see what i paid for it and i paid the difference to the current ticket rate.

it is quite possible policy has changed since then.

you could always email guest services to find out the present policy in writing.

I thought I would get $150 towards the AP but she said current value of a 3 day park hopper.
It is not that big of a difference just want to make sure I wouldn't only get credit for 2 days since I used 1 and that I could actually trade up.

You will get credit for 3 days even though you used one day. The AP will start from the day you first used the ticket. It may scan as the value of a 3 day ticket or it might scan as the value that you paid for it. Don't worry about using one day. That won't matter at all.

I upgraded a Costco three day ticket last year after using one day. She scanned the Costco tickets and actually gave me credit for what I paid for the tickets plus $5. I used and upgraded in the same trip.
