Upgrading to AP with 4/3 ticket strategy

My wonderful parents are paying to take us to Disney in February. We got 7 day park hoppers with the 4/3 deal. We would like to take advantage of what my parents paid and upgrade them to APs once we get there. I know that since we got 2 free days added on, we should use at least one day at the parks before updgrading, but is there anything else we should do to maximize the savings?

I haven't heard of anyone actually doing so this year but last year when the offer was out there if you were sure you were going to upgrade to an AP, you would get the non expiring option, you would pay the cost of a 4 day non expiring ticket and get the value of the 7 day ticket so long as you used the ticket first before upgrading. It was about 100 / ticket savings.

Thank you, that makes perfect sense! If we want to add on the no expiry and make sure we get the 2 free days, do we do this before we go or can we do it at the park?

You have to add the non expire option before you go and make it part of your vacation package since that's how the package works. If you add it at the park you won't get the extra days value that you pay for. You will upgrade the ticket at the park. I guess you are only getting the 2 days free but it's still something.
