Upgrading to AP on site, is photopass immediately active?

Hi all, I have a 6-day park hopper purchased directly from Disney, not part of a package. I may want to upgrade it to an Annual Pass on-site. I've never done an upgrade before ...

So the AP comes with photopass downloads. But if I upgrade on-site, when will that feature kick in? Is it immediately upon upgrade? And then would it include only the photos taken from the moment of upgrade forward?

This is a little complicated as I may be going to the Halloween party the night before I activate and begin to use that ticket, and I will want those party photos too... not sure if those will be included.

Also any tips on upgrading the ticket are appreciated!

I bought an AP June 2015, and I upgraded it in Feb 2016 to get the pictures. All our pictures from Feb were still there when I went to look at June 2016 pics a few weeks ago, so it must be active immediately.

Same experiences. Bought AP a week ago and photos from January were still there and available for free download immediately!
