We will be going to WDW Nov 18-23 of this year. We will be arriving the last day of free dining.

We also know that we want to take the plunge and purchase annual passes as we know we will be going at least 2 more times next year.

I know that in order to take advantage of the free dining, you have to purchase at least 2 days of park tickets in your package. So do we have to wait until day 3 in order to upgrade our tickets to AP or can we upgrade as soon as we get there?

If this doesn't make sense, please let me know and I will try to clarify more.

Thanks!

You can upgrade the tickets at any point once you check in. You can upgrade at any ticket window or guest relations office in the parks, at DTD or I believe at the concierge desk at your hotel.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know if we could do it right away knowing that we can't get free dining as annual passholders unless we buy 2 days of park tickets with the package.

Thanks again!

We are AP also and we have been getting the free dining package but have to buy two day base tickets and then we apply one day to the new AP for the next year.. can not use base tickets until after you do this however. and has to be done thru guest relations:surfweb:

See post #7 from this excellent ticket FAQ:

We've upgraded tickets to AP's every year for many years now, and never had a problem. Guest relations may try to tell you to wait until the end of your trip or you'll lose your credits, but this is not true. (Not that it's never happened--I'm sure there have been accidents, but they can be fixed.)

Also make sure you know the difference in price and exactly what you should be paying to do the upgrade. We have had problems with being overcharged and having to get $ refunded. And almost being overcharged, but able to correct the near mistake before it happened.

Enjoy your AP's!

Once you've checked in with your 2 day ticket, you've satisfied the conditions of the free dining offer. What you do to them after that is up to you.

If you have more than one person on your reservation, simply upgrade one KTTW ticket to AP. Then check that your dining credits are OK on that card. If not, use the other one and get yours straightened out. Then upgrade the other KTTW card. That way, you never have to worry about your dining credits getting mixed up.
