I noticed that someone else was advised to use their tickets first before they upgrade to annual passes with the DVC discount. I'm assuming these were tickets from the stay 7/4 package-should I still do this with tickets from Undercover Tourist-since these were purchased with a discount? Thanks!!

YES! Any time you are using any kind of discounted tickets you want to use them before upgrading. That way you will receive the gate price value of your ticket towards your upgrade. If you do not use the ticket first, you will only receive what the ticket broker paid for the ticket (not even what you paid for the ticket!) Keep in mind that your AP will be dated back to the first day that you used the ticket.

With our APs, we have always bought UT tickets first, used them one day and then upgraded them the next day. Saves us an additional $20 - $25 per AP :thumbsup2

Wouldn't you save more by renewing your DVC AP instead of getting a new one through an upgrade of a regular ticket?

How do you upgrade to annual passes? We are going to WDW 4/15-4/19 and plan to get park tickets for 2 adults, 1 child (8), and get one free for DH birthday, probably for 1 day only. We are waiting to close on our DVC resale, which should be on or around 4/22. We will not be eligible for DVC A/P discount prior to our trip. Is there anyway we can apply the ticket costs for our April trip to A/P's? I am new to posting, so I'm not sure if this should be a new thread, or whether you can ask additional questions to an existing thread. Thank you!

If you are in fact wanting to renew. Some people space out trips where renewals do not make sense. For instance, this year our APs run out in Aug. We got Aug, Jan and Jun trips out of those APs. Next year we are not going until Dec so we will not be renewing. We will buy APs then to use in 2010 and 2011.

Sure a renewal would save more but it is not always the best choice.

The free Birthday Ticket cannot be applied to the AP. If you use the admissions and there is no dollar value left, then you cannot apply them. If you use, for example, 3 days out of a 5 day ticket, then the remaining value would be prorated and applied to the AP, assuming they have the no expiration option.

I was just there on my b-day a couple weeks ago. I have an annual pass that started last October, so I took the "gift card" option since I didn't need admission. This gave me a $75.00 card to use for merchandise, or food at select locations but not all. So look at the price of a 4 day vs a 5 day or whatever you plan on purchasing for everyone else, and it might save you money to buy him a regular ticket like everyone else, and then take the $75.00 card. My BIL bought a 4 day ticket, then found out it was only a few dollars more per day to go to an 8 day ticket. So do the math before you buy.

You have a choice of 3 for the birthday: either a free 1 day ticket, or a $75.00 gift card, or a fast pass good for 1 day for 8 rides.

We were there on Jan 4 for my friend's birthday. She DID get to upgrade her one day pass and they took $75 off her DVC AP.....

I was just trying to get my prices together. Can you help me fiqure out what I'm doing wrong.
undercover tourist: 2 adults 1 child 7day non hopper total price=651.85
disney: same info=649.00
do the prices on the disney site no include the taxes?
we are planning on using them once than upgrading to AP.

The trick is you can upgrade to the DVC AP within 14 days of using park tickets-but you have to do it in person at WDW. Cant do it from home, even if within 14 days-I've tried.

Thank you. I knew I was doing something wrong. How much is tax?

Another question...

We will be going in August. It is our understanding that my DH company is going to have a discount on Disney tickets for employees since they are opening a new attraction at Disney in May. We don't have a lot of details about this because the attraction has opened and they won't give us details about how much the discount will be yet.

So my question is if we are able to get discounted tickets through his work, should we then use the one day then go over and upgrade to a DVC AP? What about a Military ticket. My Brother In law is going with us and is able to purchase the military tickets for all of us. Can we do the same thing with those tickets?

Thank for any information.
