Is there a way to call disney and ask to have tickets upgraded after you have returned home?

Say you bought a 3 day hopper and used those 3 days. You fly home and decide that buying 4 more days and having "no expiration" would be nice to have for a future trip. Is there a way to do this?

Nope. I was told this has to be done while you are down in Disney.:confused3 I would have liked to have done this also...once I could see how much we had spent at Disney!:goodvibes

We were able to do it - I spoke to the ticketing people, told them we meant to while there - we had to send our old ticktes, a letter stating what we wanted and our CC # and they sent us back upgraded tickets. THey were really nice - we did have to send them in before their 14-day expiration (we added the non-expiry).

I believe all upgrades have to be done within 14 days of first use, whether the tickets have the no expiration option or not.

As the PP said, if you get a really nice CM to help you, they might allow you to upgrade if you send the tickets back within the 14 day window.

Along the same lines as this question...

We have a trip in December - we purchased 9 day park hoppers, but we are talking about upgrading to annual pass for our trip/trips for 2008. If we wait until our last day to upgrade (in order to stall the date for next year), how do they caculate cost? Would it be better to upgrade when we first arrive and just plan next year to end before that date? I hope those questions make some sense.

Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

I think they calculate cost based on the value of the 9-day tickets, not on the one you would have left. However, I would think that your AP date would then go back to the date you first used the tickets, but I don't know that. If I'm reading your question right, you're only talking about a 9-day (or so) difference, right? If you can find Cheshire Figment on the boards, you will get your answer!

Edited to add: Cheshire Figment is a moderator on the Disabilities board. I don't know if he would mind you sending a PM to ask that question. He is likely to see this thread anyway - he is great about answering ticket questions!

It does not matter which day you do the upgrade. The expiration of the AP will be one year from the date of first use of the pass that was upgraded.

As far as the cost, they will compute the current gate price of the ticket you are upgrading from, subtract that amount from the price of an AP, and add tax.

For example, a nine-day Park Hopper has a current value of $268. An adult AP is $448, so the difference is $180 (plus $11.70 tax).

For more informaton, go to the locked stickey "Everything About WDW Tickets" in Theme Park Attractions and Strategies. There is an entire page about upgrading to an AP.

The man with all the info! Thanks for stopping in on this thread - I didn't want to give bad information, and I knew you would know! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for this information!! Thank you, too, StitchandPooh'sMom! You are both really helpful! I will certainly go and check out the upgrading information! This is new territory for us. :yay:
