upgrading tickets to AP would it be gold or platinum?

Hi,

I have tickets already for an upcoming trip in December and it is during the AP gold blackout time period. I heard that I can upgrade the tickets on the last day for APs and use during my trip in 2017 (non blackout time period). If I upgraded would I be able to pick between gold and platinum or would I have no choice with a platinum AP by upgrading on Dec. 22? What if I upgraded when leaving the park on that last day?

If you wanted to get the AP and still go into the parks during a black out day then you would have to upgrade to the platinum. If you wait until the last day in the parks and upgrade you'd be able to get the Gold AP.
