Upgrading Ticket Question

Recently I called and upgraded from 5-day hoppers to 7-day hoppers and took off the water park fun and more option for our trip in April. Now, I am contemplating a trip to Disney in November to see the Old Spice Basketball Tournament. We are also going in January on a work trip.

It seems like upgrading to annual passes may be a good option. How do I do that? Do I just call the reservation line to upgrade or wait and do it when we arrive? Does it need to be done before we use the 7-day ticket or can I wait until the end of the week?

I am thinking the annual pass would save us some money this year but in the end we may decide to go again...so we'd actually spend more. I would rather make the choice after being in the parks a few days and seeing how I feel about the reality of fast pass plus.

Any help with answering my questions would be appreciated.

You can upgrade anytime during your vacation as long as you have not used up all the days on the ticket. So upgrading during day 6 is not a problem, upgrading during day 7 after you've already entered the park is a no go.

Yes, you can upgrade the tickets to AP's.

- You can only upgrade a ticket during the first 14 days after first use.

- Or, you must upgrade no LATER than ON the same day that
you use a ticket's last asset.

Close.

It would still be possible to upgrade ON that 7th day, even after entering the park.

The NEXT day would be too late.

(BTW, with the use of MagicBands for more and more guests, this
last rule may become moot leaving only the "14 day" rule.)

I have a question related to this...If I buy a ticket with water park option, do I have to upgrade to the Premium AP or can I just upgrade to the regular AP? Trying to figure out the cheapest way to buy 2 APs for July/Aug. trip. Is there a way to buy a discounted AP straight out, so I don't have to worry about upgrading once I arrive?

1- No UNLESS you USE any of the Water Park Fun options before the upgrade.

2- If you have NOT used any of the Water Park Fun options before the upgrade,
you can choose to upgrade to either a Tourist ("regular") AP or a Premium AP.

3- Not unless you have access to "AAA South."
AAA is actually operated regionally. Not all branches offer the same kind of tickets.

There is a branch of AAA (the Auto Club) called "AAA South" that serves
Florida, Georgia, Middle & West Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.

If you go to their offices, they have WDW AP's (Florida Resident, and NON-Florida Resident) at a discount.

I don't think they can MAIL them, so this would work if you were driving to WDW and could make a stop along the way.
