Upgrading question after paying - March trip

We are in the process of "considering" of a trip to WDW in March. The other day I was at the website and saw a good deal for moderate Caribbean Beach resort. But the next day when I went to show my husband it was gone along with ALL the other moderate resorts. What happened? I can't imagine all the moderates got booked up in a few hours- maybe I guess.

ANYWAY, if I book a value and keep checking and do see a moderate open back up how would I go about changing it since it will have already been paid for at res time.

(Bonus question: I see alot of talk about possible free dining promotion? Think this would apply to my timeframe 3/13-18 & can I get it if the res has already been made?)

You can always change your resort by calling Disney and having them to the change, all monies paid would be there and you would be responsible for anything over what you have already paid.

Free dining, normally is announced in March/April for dates in Aug/Sept/Oct.

Book what you can get and be happy with now. Just keep checking online and calling because they are always happy to change your res. Sorry , but free dinging is usally the mid aug to end of Sept.

Keep checking! I booked ASmu for June and then decided a month later I wanted to upgrade to CSR. I checked online and called and I was told all standard rooms were sold out, only water view was available for a more expensive price. The next day I checked online and saw availability for standard rooms. I called reservations and spoke to a CM to changed my reservation to CSR, it only took about 10 min!!!

Thanks everyone for the help. Unfortunately after more discussion we have decided not to rush it and will put it off until March 2011 and will be saving up for a cabin. Which I have a feeling we will like much better!
