Upgrading MYW tickets

We have 7 day MYW w/PH tickets that we purchased a few years ago and have no expiration. We’re planning a trip this fall and I’d like to upgrade them to 10 day tickets. I was planning on doing that once we arrive, but I’m wondering if I should do it in advance so that I can make park reservations. Are there any other advantages/disadvantages to doing it in advance vs once we arrive? And how can I find out what the additional cost would be? I believed I purchased them in 2015 or 2016.

I would also compare the cost of upgrading your 7-day PH to 10 day PH to the cost of simply buying 3 day PH tickets. The difference in value between 2016 7-day hoppers and 2022 7-day hoppers might be quite a lot, and if you upgrade they’ll require you to pay that difference.

I was thinking this same thing. One more thing to add to it: if you can plan the first three or last three days of your trip to not be "hopper" days, you could look into just getting Base tickets. This will save you about $80 per ticket if you go this route. If you go this route, make sure you stop at Guest Services and have them prioritize your tickets the way you want them used. So, if you get a 3 day base ticket and you want to use that first because you aren't going to hop on those first three days, make sure those are prioritized first so the system uses those first when you scan into the park.

Are they "no expiration option" tickets -- as in, you can use a couple of days now, a few days next year, etc.? Or do you mean they weren't issued with an expiration date, but once the first day is used the clock starts for expiration (used to be 14 days from first use)?

If they are truly "no expiration option" tickets -- I don't even know if you can add days because that ticket is no longer sold. Also, their best value is to leave it as-is for use on multiple shorter visits.

If it is a regular ticket from 2015 or 2016, you can find the value here. Cost to upgrade will depend on your new dates and whether you want a 10-day base ticket or 10-day PH. Your upgrade cost could range from ~$118 to ~$376+. Ticket prices vary by date with lowest cost tickets this fall generally in September and increasing to the highest-priced tickets around Christmas.

Disney last sold "No expiration date" tickets on February 22, 2015. From the Mousesavers website:

• Tickets with the “No Expiration” option typically cannot be upgraded by adding days or options, because Disney no longer offers those tickets and they can’t issue new ones. If the ticket is completely unused, you may be able to upgrade one to an annual pass, or trade it in towards a higher-priced regular ticket, but it’s not guaranteed, and you should expect to be credited no more than the gate price as of the last date they offered that ticket. Usually the best thing to do with these tickets us just use the days on them.

This is a great idea. I will definitely check into this because I feel like the cost to upgrade will be quite a lot!

They’re not the true “no expiration” tickets. They expire 14 days after the first use. They were purchased around 2/28/16 or 3/1/16, I can’t remember, but it was right before a price increase. According to the chart I found, I think the cost would have been $467.54, unless I’m looking at the wrong chart. That means it would be over a thousand dollars to upgrade our 4 tickets to 10 day ph tickets.

I have to confirm the cost to upgrade. I might be better off just buying new tickets for this trip and saving these for a future trip to use as is, so they retain they’re value.

Yep, guest services outside the park. You could also stop at guest services at Disney Springs if you want to get it done before your park day. Or, if you are staying at a resort in the Boardwalk area, you could pop over to Guest Services at the International Gateway outside of Epcot.
