Okay, I have a few questions about upgrading a MYW hopper to an AP. First of all, can this even be done? We've always just bought APs, so I am not really sure if this is a valid option, but I think I've read you can upgrade MYW tickets to longer days so I thought maybe it was possible to go to an AP.

Second, if this can be done, do you have to do it when you 1st get the ticket and are using it, or can it wait if you buy non-expiring tickets?

What I mean is that we're going to WDW in December and getting new APs (current ones expire next week). Well we got that e-mail for the package w/ dining, and we have airline vouchers that expire 9/28, so I was thinking of taking a trip in September. Since you have to do the package and get tickets anyway with that deal, and I don't want the APs to start in September, I was thinking of buying 7 day MYW hoppers and getting the no-expiration. We'll only be there 6 days in Sept., if we go, so I thought I'd take the leftover day with us in December and upgrade it to an AP. That way I'm not just throwing away money on MYW tickets for the Sept. trip, but I'm also not getting the APs earlier than I want to (hope to go for MNSSHP in 2006 so we need the APs valid through then).

So if I can do that, when I upgrade my MYW to an AP will it be activated from the day I upgrade in December, or will they backdate it to when I first used the MYW ticket in Sept.? If that's the case then I might as well just buy the 6 day expiring MYW hopper and just buy APs for the December trip. Anyone ever do anything like this or know if it's allowed/possible? It would really make life easier and sorta seal the deal on a Sept. trip for us. Thanks.

Yes, you can upgrade MYW to APs, BUT you are correct in saying that the APs would back-date to the first use AND this can only be done within 14 days of first use. HTH.

So I can only upgrade MYW tickets within 14 days, even the if they are non-expiring. I get the back-dating (which I sorta figured would be the case), but I never thought about having to do it within 14 days.

Why don't you just get 6 day MYW tickets (w/o non-expiration) for the September trip?

Maybe I'm doing the math wrong -

6d PH expires = $236.43 (Adv purchase)
7D PH no-expir = $296.07 (Adv purchase)

7D w PH & no -expiration costs about $60 more than 6D (does expire), but you would only get a credit of about $42 to apply to the purchase of the AP.

We've been home a week and still fall w/in the 14 days, but does this upgrade have to be done in person? I'm assuming it does in order to turn over your MYW pass. With one park admission and 3 "extras", would it even be worth it?

Thanks.

Yes, the upgrade does need to be done in person and within 14, even if NE option is on there.

The one day part may not be, but the 3 Extras are worth keeping if at all possible.

I thought you got a credit for the whole amount of the pass that you paid for, not just what was remaining?

We most likely will just get the 6 day expiring hoppers and buy APs for the December trip since I don't want the APs to start in September cause then I'd just have to buy tickets for the 10/06 trip we're planning. If I have to buy tickets for a trip, I might as well do it with this free dining package.

Not unless you do the upgrade within 14 days of the first use. And then your year starts on the first day you used the MYW ticket.

If it's been longer than 14 days, you can only get a dollar credit for the remaining value of the MYW ticket that you can apply towards the purchase of a new AP. When you do that, your year starts on the day you buy the AP.
If you want specific info or more details on dollar credits/upgrading, read the info on the link in my previous post.

Thanks, yeah, I read the link. I was just talking about upgrading the ticket, not applying the dollar value after the 14 days (didn't know it was 14 days though) so I think that was what confused me.
