Upgrading FD ticket

I know this has been asked in different ways before. I just want to confirm that if I book a 4 night FD with a 2 day PH for December, I can upgrade that PH to an AP once we arrive and they will bridge the price?

Yes.

HOWEVER...

If you are staying for 4 nights, you could buy a 4-day or 5-day park ticket and THEN,
you would be able to book FP+ for all days of your current trip up to 60 days in advance.
Since you would be upgrading to AP, anyway, you might as well buy the multi-day tickets before your trip to get the advance FP+.

You said PH (meaning Park Hopper.)
You do not need to buy the Hopper option on the 2-day tickets.

ALSO...

Thanks everyone. We had two trips planned for 2017, one in March and one in October. Decided we would get APs and fit at least a third short trip in somewhere. Playing around yesterday I found FD for the days we could go in December, so I jumped on it. We can upgrade on that trip to APs and they will valid through the October trip (which is the big 11 night trip). I am pretty excited, now I have a trip to plan!

Don't be confused. Disney is right in this case.

I didn't realize that you wanted to use the tickets from a resort pkg. BEFORE the pkg. date.

You will be able to use your resort pkg. tickets for AP purposes
NEXT year.

I have have another question. When we go in December, can I upgrade just my tickets to an annual pass and not the others in my party with the Free Dining Package? How is it best to do this? Use the ticket the first day and then upgrade?

Yes.
Once you have arrived, each ticket can be treated individually.
Doing so after you use the ticket(s) once is fine.
