Upgrading discounted tickets

If I buy a dated ticket from a site like UT and decide to upgrade to AP, is it like Disney where you get credited the universal gate or online price for the ticket? Not sure if we’re going to upgrade yet - but making sure won’t hit any issues if we buy from UT.

No, no issues.

The only snag is if the ticket discount is actually a Universal promo (ie, buy 2 days get 2 free) - these tickets generally have an expiration date and say "promo" on them. You can still upgrade them, but you only get credit for Universal's promo price towards the upgrade (in this example, A 2 day ticket).

I upgraded our Universal Tourist buy 2, get 2 days free tickets and received a credit equivalent to Universal's list price on those 2 day tickets. So I ended up saving about $20 on our annual passes because of it, because UT discounted the price from Universal's list price.
