Upgrading Complimentary Pass?

Hello all, I’m currently a platinum AP holder but my sister currently has a 4 day park hopper that she is thinking of upgrading to an AP. However, there’s a catch- her park hopper pass was a complimentary pass that wdw gave to her for free after an accident she was involved in at one of the parks. (She and her boyfriend were on Dinosaur and some kind of fluid from a pipe sprayed onto her and they had to close the ride to check it out and someone from customer service came and gave them the free passes). So we weren’t sure if she can still upgrade since the pass was complimentary? Does anyone have any experience with trying to upgrade a complimentary pass?

Thanks in advance! (And yes- my sister is fine the fluid was not threatening or harmful)

If it is a true "complimentary" ticket, it has no monetary value from which to upgrade.

As PP said, I'd ask for certain but normally no, a Comp Pass is not upgrade-able.

Comp tickets can't be upgraded

I tried to upgrade a ticket I won in a raffle... that raffle ticket was a comp ticket and I couldn't upgrade it.

Comp passes are usually not upgradable. they can ask but should be prepared for a no.

Fyi..last week we upgraded my daughters 2 day ticket. This ticket was from when last summer we had a family emergency and had to leave early and Disney was nice enough to provide my daughter with 2 days in her name with a number. When I called ahead last month, I was told that this was basically a comp ticket and had no value to upgrade. We figured couldn't hurt to ask and went to park and cm counted it as $199 toward AP! So definitely try!
