Upgrading comp'd park hoppers

Hello

We bought direct in May and received 4 "free" 5 day park hoppers. I want to upgrade them to AP. Do I need to use them first to enter the park and then "bridge" or can I just upgrade at downtown dis when we arrive?

If the word complimentary, comp, or CP is on the tickets they cannot be upgraded or modified in any way. Also applies if they have either a "not valid before" date or a "not valid after date" or both
