Upgrading base tickets to AP

If one had a Magical package with convention tickets, is it possible to upgrade to an AP at the gate during our stay if we were pretty sure we want to come back once or twice over the year? I didn't know if I had the same ability purchasing original tickets from another outlet. Thanks for any input.

I'm not sure if convention tickets are upgradable. I'm pretty sure that they usually aren't.

If you had regular tickets you definitely could. It has nothing to do with where you bought them.

It sounds like convention tickets have special upgrades that can be purchased. AP's NOT being one of them.

Certain convention tickets (Multi-day MYW Convention Base Tickets) CAN be upgraded.
But, you will only get the value of what you paid for them originally, so there's no price advantage in doing an upgrade (as there is when upgrading from authorized ticket discounters.)

So… if you want an AP, just go ahead and buy an AP from the start and not have to worry about upgrading.
(Or, buy your tickets from an authorized WDW ticket discounter and upgrade that ticket
at WDW.)

I have the same thing and was told by the agent they are not upgradeable.
