Hello! I searched and couldn't find the answer to my question - any help would be appreciated!

I purchased the premier annual pass with the DVC discount for $399 at the end of last year. We are activating them this October. In May 2014, we are planning a trip to Disneyland...is there any way to upgrade our PAPs to the annual passport? If so, how much would the cost be?

Thanks!!

Yes you can upgrade them to a Premier Passport. You would pay the difference between what you paid for the DVC PAP ($399) and the current price of the Premier Passport at the time of upgrade plus applicable sale tax on the WDW portion of the Premier Passport.

Exactly correct. There is no price bridging or anything else like that like there is with discounted MYW tickets.

The Premier Passport is currently $849, so you'd pay an additional $450 plus tax (I forget how the tax works whether you purchase it in FL or CA...)

Tax is the same regardless of where purchased. FL taxes theme park tickets, CA doesn't. Basically, Disney divides the price in half and calculates FL tax on half the price.

I went to WDW and DL last year and will again this year. I thought about the premier, it would have saved a few dollars but the disadvantage is 1 expiration date. I went to WDW last year in April and DL in September and I'm at WDW now and will go to DL in August. If I would have bought the premier last year, it would expire in April and would not cover my August DL trip. So by buying separate AP's, I get 2 trips out of each one.

>Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm considering a very similar situation, I was planning on going with an DL Signature AP this year, next trip is Sept, it will be $850. I also have a WDW trip scheduled for April, and I would like to take at least one more trip on a pass to make it worth it. I was considering the Premier just because it would only cost me $160 more than a DL Signature+ one set of WDW tickets BUT, I don't like the idea of paying so much for the addition of the WDW part when I likely won't get to use it for 7 months.. If I bought a DL Signature and then upgraded at WDW I wouldn't be adding time to my pass right? Same expiration, just paying for the additional Premier benefits..

Yes, you wouldn't add extra time by waiting.

But by waiting, you would also loose out on the ability to book FP+ 30 or 60 days in advance of the WDW trip.

I assume you would go to DL for multiple trips? (I've never seen the premier worth it on a single DL trip)

I was considering just purchasing the PPassport right away when I go to DL in Sept for the benefits. I'll be at DL in Oct or Nov, and at least once, usually twice Jan- March. Then I would be headed to WDW. The way my DL schedule is I really don't have time (or money) to add another WDW trip to my fall/spring calendar. I got one suggestion to buy my tickets/signature pass at DL in Sept, do my trips, buy discount WDW tickets for April in advance, use them to upgrade to an AP, then I'll have a separate AP to each but will be able to upgrade my WDW one to a Ppassport when my DL one runs out in Sept 2018 and have the PPassport through April 2019. While it's a little more than I was planning to spend it does keep me in coast to coast passes a lot longer than buying the Ppassport right away in Sept and break up the cash outlay over a longer period.
