I will have a 6 day park ticket with the park hopper and water parks feature. If I upgrade this to an AP during my trip, do I lose my water park days? I believe water parks are only included on the second tier AP.

You lose the WP features on your AP if you upgrade to the regular AP. However you can't do that upgrade unless you don't use your WP features on your original 6-day park ticket. To get an AP with WP features, you must ask for it, and pay the extra charge.

So I can't upgrade unless I want to waste all my water park days? Geez that sucks. I wish I'd done more research before buying the tickets...so if I use a water park day they just won't let me upgrade?

They won't let you upgrade to a plain AP if you use your WP features. You can upgrade to the Premium AP which comes with the WPs. You're not wasting your WP features, in terms of getting $$ credit for them. And you can add WP to a plain AP, but not pro-rated, if it's added later.

$654 Annual Pass (theme parks, only, includes Hopper)
$779 Premium Annual Pass (with same extras as Water parks Fun and More.)

All prices, plus tax.

Upgrade to an AP before using the water parks. Then use the AP to get a discount on the water park ticket. The credit they give you for the upgrade includes what you paid for water parks so you are not losing the money.

For clarity, there is also a stand-alone "Water Park AP" ($110, adult) which does not include any of the other assets of the WPF&M option.

But, since DisneyQuest is closing sometime next year, those extra assets may not be of much value to some guests, anyway.

Adding the Water Park AP to a regular AP can save some money over buying a Premium AP.

We're in a similar situation and since near home we have a lot of water parks, we were never big on going to them at WDW. We found the regular ap + discounted individual water parks tickets to come out as a better deal for us.
