Upgrading a hopper to an AP?

We are taking our family this June. Today we were talking, and I was saying that if we really loved it, we could upgrade to APs and then go back next year, too. My issue is that we'll have 8 day hoppers -- the reason we didn't buy the AP this year is that 2 of the 8 are black out days, including the last day. So if we use all the admission on the pass, on our 8th day, can we upgrade to an AP still? Or do we need to upgrade before we use that last day?

You have to upgrade your last day of use. BUT if you're going to upgrade to an AP and you would be blacked out that day you can use your last day of admission, get into the parks, go into the bank on MS and upgrade. You will NOT be charged the blackout fee. This works, this is what we did when we upgraded our 5 day PHs to APs in July 07. The girls were with their Dad on our last Saturday (we went Sat to Sat) so DBF and I upgraded, went in and out of the parks all day and then took the girls in on Sunday before we had to head for home.
