Upgrading a DAP to a PAP on a blackout?

I was just wondering if anyone has upgraded their DAP to a PAP on a blackout day?
We will be in Disneyland Dec 24th until the 30. It won't be 'worth it' to pay for blackout day tickets (50 bucks each day!) when we can just upgrade. But the thing is the 24th is a blackout day and from what I understand the blackout day tickets can not be applied to an upgrade.

Can I upgrade at the hotel? Or can I buy a one day park ticket to get in and then would the value of that ticket be able to be applied to the cost of the upgrade?

Any suggestions would be welcomed! TIA!

I'm pretty sure the blackout tickets can be used towards an upgrade. At least that was the case the one time we went on a blackout Saturday when we had DAP's. If not then you should be able to upgrade at the ticket booths or guest service.

If you're going to upgrade your pass, you don't need the blackout ticket. The ticket booths will upgrade your pass for you. We did this last year.
