I booked our trip before we became DVC members. Once we were me,bets, I realized that for a few hundred more we could upgrade to annual passes. Our plan to upgrade our first day at the park. But now I am hearing rumors that the annual pass prices may increase prior to our trip in August. Is it possible to upgrade our passes to annual pass vouchers with our DVC discount?

Yes, it's possible to upgrade your tickets to APs at the DVC price.

You need to use them once (at least) then do the upgrade transaction. Once you use them your tickets will be valued at the current gate price (even if there's an increase since you purchased them) and then you will pay the difference between that price and the DVC AP price.

Note - if you have the plus option on your tickets and use any of the pluses before upgrading, you will only be allowed to upgrade to the Premium Annual Pass.

So to clarify we cannot upgrade to the vouchers until we go, so there is no way to lock in before the price increase.

No, but you will get the current-at-the-time gate price for those tickets credited to your upgrade (once you use the tickets at least once, and if the CM is following proper procedure), so unless the percentage of the AP increase is vastly higher than the ticket increase, you'll still be fine.

Once the ticket prices increase, write down the total of the current-at-time-of-use 9 day hopper (including the tax), and write down the price of the current-at-same-time AP you're upgrading to (including the tax), find the difference, and write that down too. Take the paper with you. If the CM comes up with a different price, stop the transaction, see what the problem is, and if the CM is doing it wrong (not giving you the full current-at-the-time-of-upgrade price of the tickets), take the tickets back and go elsewhere.

Thanks. That is extremely informative. I didn't even think of that. So I need to use them at least one day before upgrading? Also this might be a dumb question, but I bought the hoppers through AAA. Does tht matter?

Yes, you need to use them once. And no, it doesn't matter if you have tickets purchased through AAA - it works the same for any MYW tickets, which is what they sell.

As Molly explained, if prices go up, you will be the getting the higher value for your tickets once you use them. Of course, AP prices will go up as well - but hopefully the ratio will stay the same, so it really shouldn't cost you any more out of pocket.

You especially need to use the tickets first when your ticket was purchased from someplace other than Disney. (Even if there isn't a price increase.)

A used ticket is always exchanged at the price Disney is charging for that ticket at the time of the exchange, regardless of what you actually paid for it.

An unused ticket is exchanged at the price Disney received for the ticket. Assuming AAA made a small profit on selling you that ticket, they paid Disney something less than they charged you. Exchanging it without using it would get you an exchange value of less than what you paid.
