has anyone ever upgraded a 21 day ultimate ticket to a premium annual pass? and if so any idea on how i do it and price? i am a dvc member so can get a discount on the annual pass and did not think about this before i bought our tickets this week, as we are going out for a month an annual pass would suit our needs better. any help gratefully received. thanks Catrin:rolleyes1

A lot of CMs will tell you that upgrading an "ultimate ticket" is not possible. I recently upgraded a 14-day ultimate ticket to an annual pass and found the guest services desk at Downtown Disney to be the best.

You will need to purchase a premium annual pass because the ultimate tickets include waterparks & disneyquest. The staff at Downtown Disney were also able to apply DVC discount with no issues.

At what point did you upgrade? I have read its easier to do on the last day if free dining is included with the Ultimate. Did you have free DDP with yours?

I did have DDP and the girl told me it was better to do it later in the holiday, however I was buying $1500 worth of jewelery from the World of Disney and the 20% discount paid for the upgrade alone. I explained this and the girl had no problems upgrading and transferring the DDP credits.

It was also better doing it earlier as I purchased a tables in wonderland card and saved a fair bit on the OOP meals we had arranged.

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid to upgrade to an AP?

I am visiting for 7 days in October but have a 14 day ultimate ticket as it was the same price as a 7

As we will be back again in May 2012 I think it may be cheaper to upgrade to an AP rather than pay around £250 each for another 14 Day Ultimate

We have the DDP as well so would be able to head to DTD on our last day to do this

TIA

after the DVC discount it was around $230. They gave me about $300 value for the existing 14-day ultimate ticket.

Last time I considered upgrading to AP I didn't think it was worth the cost for us so didn't do it.
Its a better deal if you are DVC members and use the benefits of Premium. As we are not DVC or use the Premium benefits we were better just sticking with the passes we had and buying the odd day we might want on our return trip.

Thanks both

I'm not a DVC member so I wouldn't get any discount

I called Disney and although they said I could upgrade to an AP, they couldn't tell me what the exchange value would be

We usually book tickets and room together and take the free dining so I am just trying to work the maths as to if this is the best value

Just in case it helps somebody, I upgraded my 14 day ultimate to a DVC AP a couple of year's ago at Downtown Disney. As I had only used the ultimate ticket to enter the main parks and not the premium element, I was permitted to upgrade to just a normal annual pass. I think the cost was around $90.

I agree that they do seem to know more about it at the Downtown Disney Guest Services.

thanks these are all really helpfull - any idea of cost difference between 21 day ultimate and premium annual pass with DVC discount?
