Upgrades at the port if in cat 12

There are 3 of us and we booked at Cat 12 - I was wondering what the cost would be to upgrade to a cat 7 at the port.

Has anyone done this?
Because there are 3 of us and not 4 will it be easier to get a Cat 7 that only hold 3 people?

It depends on a few things. The length of your cruise and if there is any availability to begin with. I tried to do the same thing a few weeks ago. 3 of us in a 12.there was no availability BUT they did upgrade us ahead of time for free from a 12 to a 9 !! good luck!
