Upgrades at Boardwalk Inn

Has anyone been able to get a complimentary upgrade at Boardwalk Inn? We have a standard view but are going during a slow time and am wondering if i should ask for a complimentary upgrade.

It never hurts to ask, especially if you are ever so nice about it!

If you are comfortable, ask them straight out. If not, ask for the best possible view. They may upgrade, or if you have to keep the standard view, they may place you in one of the Epcot view rooms. They are lovely. You can watch the illuminations fireworks every night. I actually prefer it over the Boardwalk/waterview rooms.

My sister and I had reserved a BWI standard view room for our stay in January 1999 -- they upgraded us to a concierge room (I *think* it was a garden view). That was my only comp upgrade in many, many WDW stays, and I'm not sure how we got it, since we didn't say a word at check-in.

Some of the standard views in the courtyard have great view of Illuminations and Epcot. Try to avoid the ones facing the front driveway.

I just always ask if an upgrade is available. If there is one available, the person checking you in will usually try to get you one, especially if its a "special occasion". When we went, I just told the CM that it was my daughter's birthday, and we got upgraded to a beautiful water view from the standard.

We had a driveway view when we were there last week

As we only stayed for 3 nights, I couldn't be bothered asking to move, but I agree with Debbie; when you check in try to make sure you don't get one of these rooms. The courtyard view is fine
