Upgraded last week

My dd and I were on a girls only trip last week. We started with 3 nights in a studio at the Poly. On our last day there, we got a phone call while we were at AK. It was someone at the Boardwalk asking me to call them about my reservation at the Boardwalk the next day. I called back and she said they were upgrading us to a 1 bedroom, and she wanted to let me know so I didn't freak out if I got an email saying my reservation was cancelled. We sure didn't need that much space for only 2 of us, but it was very cool. A nice dose of pixie dust!
When we checked in the girl at the desk slipped me a piece of paper saying this is my current balance, how would I like to pay it. It was for $3056 LOL! I told her it should be on points, and she made a call, and it was instantly fixed, but wow, I can't imagine paying that for 5 nights.

Sounds great, just make sure they didn't take off the extra points for he upgrade

Did they give a reason why you were upgraded?

They did not, and it was so noisy where I called them back from, I didn't ask. But seeing that many of the rooms on our floor were in the middle of refurb (the doors were all open all day, we could see them moving things in), I would guess they ran out of studios.

generally when it is an update - there is something wrong with the room you were assigned and there was no unassigned studio to give you.

now it had to be something that would take at least a day (if not more) to fix - otherwise you would be waiting until 6 or 7pm for your room. (DVC is know to do this)

Congratulations on the upgrade. I agree that without DVC, we would very rarely stay at any of the DVC resorts due to cost.

We are the same way. I know I couldn't afford to stay at the Poly nor would I really want to spend that much either.

Most likely due to the renovations. I saw a post on a Facebook group where someone on a cash reservation got a call about moving to another resort. It was an anniversary trip and she did not want to move. I believe she got it straightened out after several calls. She got to keep the room.
