Upgraded Fuel Rods available now at DL

I don't usually use the one Fuel Rod I own as I have several higher capacity Anker power banks that I bring to the parks. However, there was one long day where I forgot any type of power bank and it wasn't convenient to leave and try and buy one outside Disney. So I bought a Fuel Rod out of desperation and found it charged incredibly slowly. I know the point is you can swap out for free. But it required so many swaps to get two phones through the rest of the day, I just found it a bit of a drag to use.

But anyway, I'm not trying to start a Fuel Rod debate lol (If you love yours, awesome!) This is just a long-winded way of sharing that the Fuel Rods have been updated with better charging capacity. This also means the cost to buy a new one has gone up. But the upside is if you do already own one, you can swap as you usually would at the Disney Fuel Rod kiosks, and receive the new upgraded one now instead, along with a new cable kit. So even if you use it infrequently, might as well switch it out for the new version!

Good to know! I have one that I bought a few years ago, but rarely use it. Will have to check it out next time I'm in a park.

A tip is to buy your first one from Amazon and then only use the fuel rod kiosks to exchange for charged ones.

Something to keep in mind for international visitors they are not available to be shipped outside of the US even on Amazon. If you are an international visitor you will have to wait until you arrive either at an airport that has them or wait until you arrive on Disney world property. You can search for the locations in Walt Disney world by using the my Disney experience app and looking for portable chargers.

Thank you for this information! I have my own power bank but it's rather clunky. I didn't ever plan to buy a fuel rod but 3 visits ago I discovered I hadn't brought a very crucial component for charging my phone. I thought about where I might be able to buy the piece that fits into the phone or a new power cord, but when I asked the concierge at GCH if they had anything I could use, she suggested I could get a Fuel Rod from the kiosk on site because it comes with all the plug variations. It worked like a charm! And, it turned out that I also like having the Fuel Rod as a backup or when I didn't want to bring my big portable charger. I've taken it with me every trip since then and I like taking it instead of my big one if I go back in the evening or something like that. I like that it works with Samsung, Apple, and others I don't know the names of.

Cool that it will have more power!
