I used them when talking to my agent. But I guess DISNEY is GOD in this case. YC or SS are my options, unless they can find another room available somewhere else. It's really frustrating. Next time I will probably just book thru Disney and save the third party debate. Because I can't even call Disney it has to be relayed onto me thru my agent. I just don't know what to do, I feel like I'm helpless. I don't want to get mad at my agent, I just can't get any answers. So they are transfering our reservation over to SS as of today and will let us know if something else comes available.

This sounds horrible, but I'm ready to sic my mother on them. (I'm 26) :scared:

If YC or SSR are your options, take YC!!! You'll have the boat to Epcot and DHS, plus the fantastic pool there. YC is a deluxe resort, SSR isn't. YC really is fantastic and is a very desired location. Also, there are many dining options there (and a boat ride away at the Boardwalk.)

Yes .. I agree. Unless I missed something YC sounds like the much better of the two options. Did your TA try just saying No? I don't think they can Force you to move. I would think they would just offer someone else the change?:confused3

I am so sorry for you. I won't say it is a downgrade, but just a completely different experience and location. Most choose AKL for the animals and the theming and they are taking this from you!!!!

If standing your ground doesn't(or didn't) work, I would choose the YC over SSR, then at least you would have SAB and walk to Epcot, the BW area.

Good luck to you and don't let it ruin your vacation. You will still have a good time, just different!!:)

Definitely take the YC over SS. The YC would be an upgrade. My boys love the AKL but I love the YC and in fact we are staying there in Sept/October -- my choice this trip.

You are also right, the agent is simply letting you know what Disney is saying. You might be able to ask your agent to do a conference call with you on the line and then call the Disney representative. The other option, if you don't want to use the agent again, keep in mind they have done the work and deserve payment, is you can transfer the reservation into your own name thus taking the agent out of the loop. You would need to call Disney, fax in paperwork, etc. That said, it is not the agent's fault that this is happening and I'm sure they feel badly that all this is happening. Perhaps you should ask the agent to talk to the agency manager/owner and have them talk to the agency's regional/district sales manager. If the agency is large enough they have someone at Disney they work directly with for a variety of things. That is what we did one time when we were so unhappy with what Disney did. In the end it worked out for us.

First, though -- go with the YC and not SS -- you will be much happier.

Another vote for YC over SSR (based on convenience, not amenities -- because SSR is a beautiful resort). However, I still think if AKL is where you want to stay you should just stick to your guns and have the agent tell them you are not willing to move and to please contact some other guests and offer them the "upgrade". Afterall, how long ago did you make your reservation?

I wouldnt take it either, that is not a fair switch in my mind

If you absolutely have to switch, I would take the YC for convenience (and Stormalong Bay). Plus, I agree being moved from a regular room at the AKL to a studio (with only one bed and a sleeper sofa) is a downgrade.

They did this a LOT last summer. The DVC construction forced them to move many guests. Personally, I wouldn't stay at SSR. I'd ask for a Epcot or MK resort. Last summer, many folks got the BC/YC or the Poly. This is your vacation, stay where you want.:wizard:

Yep, happened to us last year. We had a standard view room booked at AKL but got 'moved' to SSR. My youngest was 18 months at that time and we really didn't want SSR because it is a larger resort. So, we ended up at BC with a standard view. They tried to put us in Poly or another deluxe but I think because we had 3 rooms, the availability wasn't there.

Maybe you can ask if other deluxes are available for the same price you were paying at AKL (especially since the oversell isn't your fault!)? We paid the same amount for BC standard view that we were going to pay for AKL standard.

Good luck:wizard:

Hi op, did you speak to your TA and get a resolution?

This happened to us last June! We were booked at the YC and they wanted to move us to CR. I said no due to construction there. They told us there was a 50% chance that when we got to the hotel they would move us. I did not want tot ake the chance so decided to agree to move beforehand. We were traveling with my autisticson and didn't want to chance it. We said we would move to Poly or GF. they moved us to the GF. We also negotiated a LOT of freebies. We paid the same hotel rate as we would have if we stayed at the YC. We negotiated 1 or 2 nights free hotel room and upgraded our basic park tickets to park hoppers and had them also pay for free tickets for a visting guest. Hope this helps. I would not settle for SSR. Pick another deluxe hotel and i would suugest that the monorail was awesomely convenient. I hope this helps!

I stayed at a studio in SSR last year. Although it was very nice I would not call it an upgrade from AKL. No way-go for YC or a monarail resort.
