Upgrade Worth $32/night???

I think that spending the difference on the DxDP during free dining is a great way to try it out (without spending all of that DxDP $) if you think that it would work for you.

Before our trip last year (during FD) I went through the menus at allears to get an idea of where we'd want to eat & if it would be worth buying up to the DxDP. FOR US it would have been a waste of money. It was cheaper to pay OOP for the occasional 2 credit TS, or just have drinks & apps rather than commit to (OK..have to pay for :rotfl:) the DxDP every day.

I'm thinking that most of just one meal (even at most of the 1 ts credit places will be at least $32, so it's like getting the rest of the meals & snacks that day for free.

We really wanted to upgrade but jsut don't think it makes sense for us this year. I will be 30 wks pregnant for our trip & will also have our DD who will have just turned 2. We figured by paying OOP for the TS breakfasts we want, it'll work out cheaper for us.
But I really wish we could do it. Next time, maybe.

Thanks everyone for your posts. Have decided to go for it & upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan. For $32 a night, it's a bargain. Plus, alot of the table services that I am looking to do would be at least that for just one meal.

I was wondering you can upgrade to Deluxe for only part of the FD trip. I am there 10 days. Can I do like 3 days on deluxe? I assume maybe split up my room bookings?

Yes, you'd have to split your reservation into multiple bookings. That means you'd have to buy at least a 1-day MYW ticket for each booking.

Made my deposit this morning and confirmed the upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::yay: For $32/night, I think it's going to be totally worth it!!! Have started making a list of where I want to go, with alot of breakfasts & dinners and a few lunches thrown in there.

I am using the deluxe plan for a 14 night holiday in September (solo trip) on some days I will do ts meals dinner and breakfast on others the earliest breakfast I can get a 2pm lunch and dinner after 9pm.

We upgraded last year during free dining, and it really enhanced our trip. We love to eat, and since it was already planned & paid for (well, except for the tip...) it took a lot of the guesswork and stress out of our vacation. We weren't always hungry when we ate, so we didn't eat every single morsel. We had a lot of snack credits left, which we used for candy to take home. We used the mugs only a few times, but love them as souveniers. It was great not having to pack snacks in our luggage, not having to stop at the FL Walmart for food/drinks/snacks, and try some dinner shows and nicer eateries. Enjoy your meals- we are looking forward to a detailed dining report when you get back!
