upgrade used gold AP to Platinum later in the year?

wondering if I can buy/use a gold AP and then upgrade to Platinum later? for ex., buy a gold for summer and then we decide to go that Christmas as well. Can I just pay the difference at Christmas?

Yes. They don't prorate the cost and your expiration date will remain unchanged.

I remember when they used to prorate pass upgrades. I recall paying around $12 to upgrade a pass at the 10 or 11 month mark.
