Whats the best deal anyone ever got when checking in an asking for an upgrade to concierge? I heard you might get a better deal asking at the desk rather than booking with CRO.Just wondering if this is true?

Just a word of caution... there's always a good chance that Concierge level would be booked by the time you arrive. If you want Concierge, it's best to book it specifically.

Prices should be the same either way.

I have read many posts here that people have been offered $50-75 a night extra for concierge. Some have even been upgraded for free. I wouldn't count on it though. Resorts like Poly, CR and WL have booked concierge most of the time. I guess it depends on when you are going. It can't hurt to ask at checkin (and I would think you would have to check in early) but like the other poster said, if you really want it - better book it.

Our last experience with inquiring about an upgrade was at the GF. We were quoted the difference in rack rates between our room and the concierge room.

I've actually seen fewer and fewer reports of complimentary concierge upgrades or of those guests being offered significant discounts at check-in. I'm sure it still happens and if you'd only book the room for less money, then it wouldn't hurt to wait and ask when you register. I just don't think they have many problems with occupying these rooms anymore. The last few times that we've stayed in concierge, we had to have our TA keep checking dates because a number of the nights we requested were already full.

My own personal experience is that if you really want concierge you need to book it when you are planning your trip. We took a quick 3 night trip in March and booked the WL. We didn't want concierge because we knew we wouldn't be in the room much, too much to do and way too little time. But we thought just for our own info we would ask at check-in what the rate would be to upgrade and it was $100 a day. We said no thanks. I also agree with TammiMcMan. I've seen and heard much fewer non-paying and paying upgrades at check-in than years ago. Just my 2 cents.

Three years ago at Wilderness Lodge we were upgraded from Woods View to Concierge for $25.00/night. We were there for 8 nights and it was only $200.00 extra for the entire stay. We did not ask for an upgrade, it was offered to us. All I had asked for was a room with a view of the fireworks and this is what they gave us! :flower:

Yea, I don't think they do this as much anymore, but I'll tell you our experience.

Early Dec./2002.........so 2 1/2 years ago. My Dh and I were staying CL at WL for 2 nights and then courtyard view the Last night.(when I called, they only had the two nights available in CL)

We have our two nights on CL and we are about to move to the other room. We thought, oh, what a drag, after only two nights in this room (woods view) we have to move our stuff. so we decide to check and see what it would cost to stay and if they have availability. The guy said sure. It would be $30. We said ok. They must have had a cancellation.

And this was when we were getting an awesome discount in the first place. I think I paid something like $189 for WL CL for the first two nights. Oh, I wish I could remember. But I do remember it was a great deal. I probably wouldn't do it again, but it was nice to experience it once.
