Upgrade ticket for AP or save it for later use?

i purchased heavily discounted Canadian tickets. We have decided to get APs. I'd like to bridge the ticket but not sure if that will be possible. If it isn't, it will be a straight upgrade and I'll lose my discount. Am I better to just hang on to these cheap tickets for a future trip?

I'm also concerned that if I try to bridge and can't, I'll mess up my fastpasses if I decide at the ticket booth to save the discounted tickets and buy APs. Is that a decision I can make at the ticket booth? I'm thinking it's safer to buy the APs in advance of my fadtpass date. Can you transfer Fastpasses from a ticket you decide not to use to an AP?

Could the ticket gurus help out?

they kind of changed the rules this year where the ticket may not increase in value so if you save it to use it'll be worth it as it'll be a valid ticket. It's when you go to upgrade or add onto the ticket where it may not retain it's value in the future. More specifically it may not increase as ticket prices go up. If you save it to apply to an ap renew or new ap, that will probably end up costing more and I'd personally just upgrade it now but could be more valuable down the line when you just need tickets in the future.. I'm not really sure what the rules are around disconted tickets purchased in canada are but I'm sure @Robo or someone else will reply soon with better info. was that ticket purchased from disney?

No the ticket was purchased from CAA. It will never expire unlike the new tickets purchased from Disney now.

FP+ reservations are not "attached" to a specific ticket.
Once you make FP+ reservations. as long as you still HAVE a valid ticket(s) in your MDE account, it doesn't matter which ticket (or AP)
that you actually USE to enter the park, your booked FP+ will work.

Thank you. How does the system know which ticket I want used for entry? Would you suggest saving the discounted ticket for future use so that I preserve the discount if they don't allow it to be price bridged into an AP or just forgo the discount and upgrade to an AP.

Thank you.

1. The system doesn't care which ticket you use for entry.
It knows that you have a set of FP+ booked for X day.
It knows that you have one or more valid tickets in your MDE account (which is why you can book advance FP+.)
Whichever ticket you decide to USE to enter a park on X day, the FP+ you booked for X day will be available.
(Again, FP+ are not "linked" directly to any specific ticket. You just need a valid ticket in your MDE to advance book FP+.)
2. Keep 'em.
If you can't bridge to AP, just buy the AP, outright, and keep your discounted tickets for the future. (You can certainly ASK at the ticket booth.)
