Upgrade question

We booked our cruise through DVC member services using part points/part cash. The cruise is for July 2004, we made the ressies in early August (I think), and have a category 8 on deck 7.

I know upgrades are just pure luck but I just wondered if any of this luck may spill our way. Has anyone received an upgrade when booking through DVC member services?

I have not and I am so sure that you are eligible anyway. I am beginning to think there isn't a whole lot of real rational behind upgrades. Barb and Tony (DCL's best customers) have not been upgraded. Go figure.

We have done two cruises with point/cash combos (with another one around the corner) and have never been upgraded. But then again our first one we paid all cash and we not upgraded either so who knows?
There really seems to be no logic (at least none us mere mortals can figure out) behind upgrades. The only pattern that I have noticed is it seems to happen more often on the wonder than the magic and happens to cat. 11 most often.

last September from cat 6 to cat 4, I asked the cast member at check in if they knew why I was upgraded and she said they never know, but most likely because because I was a repeat cruiser and it was my b-day.
And this was on my $99 coupon cruise so cat. 4 room for $99 each, you can't beat that.......

We booked two cabins through DVC for our cruise this past August, both cabins were upgraded from cat. 9 to cat. 5, boy, were we excited when we found out!!! We didn't know about the upgrade until we received our docs about three weeks before our cruise.
