Upgrade question, Or has this ever happened

I was wondering if anyone has ever been upgraded while staying on points upon checkin to a dvc resort. By upgraded, if you aren't familiar, I mean book a studio and get a 1 bedroom upon checkin. I am just curious. I have never heard of this happening at a DVC resort only at the traditional resorts.

It almost never happens. It has happened, but it is very rare - the general feeling is that its only going to happen if "your" room went out of service for some reason and the one they have open is an upgrade.

I "hear" it doesn't happen much at all while staying on points BUT we've stayed at SSR 3x so far, each time on cash and EACH time we have been upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom. They may try to upgrade cash guests because they want to try to sell you into DVC (very smart move as we did go through the presentation after the first stay in the 1 bedroom). We go back in 2 weeks and booked a studio (on cash though), so we'll see what happens. Certainly not counting on it happening again but will certainly be happy if it does...

Key statement above is "CASH"

The only times I have heard of upgrades are for "cash" customers or out of service room issues.

(And can you blame them? Give someone on this board an upgrade and every one would come back and whine "I got what I reserved but I wanted a bigger unit" LOL!)

thanks everyone for the replies. That makes sense for "cash" guests. It would be nice occasionally for us points guests. Oh well wishful thinking.
