Upgrade Possibility?

Is there any possibility of a room upgrade once you receive your boarding passes in the mail? I am in a cat 9 but would like to have a balcony or veranda. Can you attempt to upgrade before you board and what are the chances?

Can you pay for an upgrade at the dock?

Yes people have been upgraded after receiving docs before. Also you can pay for an upgrade at the dock and it is alot cheaper to do it then instead of now.

Upgrades are rare in any circumstance. If you've gotten your documents, I think it's unlikely that you'll get a free upgrade. I don't know if I've heard of a free upgrade being awarded upon check-in.

You can purchase an upgrade when you check in. You'll have to pay the difference in category price. While the difference may be a bit smaller than the published price, most have reported that it's not really a bargain to buy an upgrade at the port.

If it is possible, how do you go about asking if you booked through a travel agent?

Thanks again. Either way I am looking forward to a great cruise. I think I got a good bargin on cat 9 room and I am sure we will be happy in the room (two adults, one 8yr).

I know of people who have gotten paid for upgrades at the Port at a considerable discount - however, it obviously depends on how full the cruise is and there may be zip there left to upgrade to!

We got our Disney documents days out, but weren't awarded an upgrade until after that (maybe 25 days before we left). I noticed the upgrade when I was faxed a confirmation of an excursion.

We were in line next to a woman at the port who was not able to purchase an upgrade due to availability, and she seemed kind of miffed.

What would a fair price be to upgrade from a cat 9 to a cat with a veranda (cat 7 or so).

Don't give up on getting an upgrade. We were upgraded the night before the cruise, (call from DU) while en-route to Florida. Good Luck.

We just returned from the 7 day Eastern. Having never cruised before and this being a birthday celebration we decided to book the verandah. I am so glad we did not wait to book at port because there was a sign saying that the cruise was full and no upgrades were possible.
