We are stopping off at WDW for two days in December (between family visits) and, although we really wanted to try Port Orleans Riverside, the cost was just SO much more that I went ahead and booked All-Star Music. We had stayed at All-Star Movies in July and liked it just fine, so I'm not oppposed to values, but we were interested in the theme and room decor at POR. I was already paying nearly double what we paid last time for a value resort due to the time of year, so I just couldn't swing the extra cash (well, we're also doing a weekend in NYC and seeing "Wicked" on Broadway in January, so that was a big factor, too).

Lo and behold, I get an e-mail today with an upgrade pin code.

I was floored because we are going during one of the busiest weeks (if not THE busiest week) of the year. So I certainly did not expect ANY discounts (in fact, it was a black-out date for military room-only discount) much less an upgrade offer like this.

It did cost me $52 more ($26 a night), but well worth it since that still put the price of the moderate (our first choice) in line with what I was willing to pay. I was on the phone faster than you can imagine and we are now booked at POR for our stay. My wife was on :cloud9: when I told her about the upgrade.

Thank you, Mickey (or should I thank Tink?), for that little bit of pixie dust today!

thats great...I hope you have a good time at POR. Its our fav resort because of the theming, it just feels sort of relaxing even when its very busy. A beautiful resort to look round and no matter where you are you are never too far from the bus or the main building..LOVE IT..:thumbsup2

That is awesome!!!

Congrats on your upgrade. POR is gorgeous.....you know you may never go back to the values....;)

We probably won't. Even though we loved our stay at ASMo, we now have older kids (one about to be out of the house entirely and another in high school), so my wife and I are taking a much more relaxed approach to WDW visits and want to experience these other resorts. I was already planning on this two-night stay at ASMu to be our last value stay and then start trying out moderates (POR and CBR) and eventually splurge on deluxe. When we stayed at ASMo, we did go over to the ASMu one day and looked around a bit, so we don't feel as if we're missing out if we never actually stay there. Definitely looking forward to our visit next month!

That's Great! Congratulations! You are going to have an awesome time!!!! Just one question, what email service did you use? Was it an official Disney World or another discount site's email? If it is another discount site, which one? Thanks and congrads!!!!

That is fantastic congratulations!!! I'm also curious if this was a WDW discount, as we will be there around the same time you will. A discount would be great, if one is out there through WDW!

May I ask if you had a room only ressie or a package?

My theory is that these upgrades are coming to room only ressies, but what do I know?

I'm one of those people booked at a value for Xmas week and still hoping for one of those upgrade PIN codes! We have a package booked.

Congrats! I think you'll love your new resort!

We love POR, enjoy!
On a side note.... Enjoy seeing wicked!! My favorite broadway show!!

It was a room only reservation this time. The e-mail I got was directly from WDW travel company with a pin code for the upgrade.

The cast member I spoke with pitched changing my room only reservation to a package at the new resort, but I kept it room only for this trip because it's such a short duration, we already have a bunch of tickets, and DDP would not have saved us anything for the meals we have planned on this trip.
