Upgrade PH to SoCal Select AP?

If I buy my tickets through Disney (and use them during a block-out week) can I upgrade to any AP on the last day before the park closes? I noticed the SoCA Select is less than a 5 day PH so I wondered if it was even possible to upgrade a 5 day PH to that?

I thought the rule was that what you are upgrading to has to cost the same or more than what you are upgrading from, so I don't think you can upgrade a more expensive ticket to a cheaper AP.

Makes total sense to me, I just couldn't find that info! (Also- it's definitely the answer I was hoping for because I like the broader variety of dates available for the SoCA AP but I was having a hard time justifying it to myself, guess I just have to now... )

Another trick is to but a three day parkhopper, use that for the MM and blackout days then upgrade to the AP before then end of you last day of use...but of all 5 days of your visit are blackouts...may not work.

Hmm... now I'm thinking doing a 4 day PH for $335 for a 4 day trip and then upgrading to SoCalSelect for $4 each since those are running $339...
