If free dining CS is offered in the moderates and free dining TS is offered in the deluxe resorts-can you book a moderate and upgrade to TS?

Just thinking ahead- we are trying to make up our minds between the Disney Dream cruise and a Disney World resort package for Feb. 2012 Prez week (eek!).

Yes, I know that free dining has NOT been offered for Feb. 2012. But I am trying to figure out prices for most possibilities. Even if we have to arrive a few days eariler in WDW to get free dining during Prez week it may or may not be worth it. I don't know until I play with the numbers.

Hoping this makes some sense!

Thanks a bunch!

In the past, yes you could upgrade and pay the price difference to your "free dining" and a more expensive plan.

Thanks! I am hoping that will not change in 2012. I can't afford a deluxe even with free dining but def want the TS not CS. We may end up with Pop and just pay for TS.

Knowing it might be a possibility is a big help.

The current FD offer included the regular plan for moderates and up. I have heard some PIN codes offered QS for mods.

I am basing my optimistic speculation on the UK free dining which includes Feb 2012 but only CS for mods and TS for deluxe. They are not offering free dining for the values at all. I am only guessing (and crossing my fingers plus toes) that Disney will offer some sort of free dining in Feb 2012 for USA too. But I have a feeling it will not cover Prez week but may stop around the 16th. So I am also thinking we may start the package on the last day of the free dining to get it the entire week. Who knows? They may not offer free dining in Feb 2012 even before Prez week at all.

The USA FD plan is this way, the UK (and possibly other EU/AUS agencies) are usually QS at value and mod with the DDP at Deluxe.

There should be no reason why the ability to upgrade by paying the difference would change. It's in Disney's best interest to keep this option in place. However, just like everything, that statement is subject to change!

Mardi Gras week and Presidents' week also falls at the same time this year. Mardi Gras week typically gets kids out of school (at least in the south, and more specifically in both New Orleans, LA and Mobile, AL out of school for several days). So the impact on vacationers at this time will be larger than normal, which reduces the chances for the higher value deals (such as FD). Just a heads up.

We booked last year for September with the free dining promotion. As we are staying in ASMo which only gives you counter service, we upgraded to the regular DDP. The price difference wasn't that much and was worth it to us as it is only DH and myself.
