Money wise I think we break even on the dining plan because we are gluttons... I gained five pounds in Disney. I'm not going to say it is a good value. Normal people should not eat that much.
We would probably eat just as much if it weren't all included. Any experienced waitress takes one look at me and knows I will order dessert. They can see they way I longing gaze at others' plates.
For vacation mindset it is really nice not to worry about every dollar for every snack and meal. It's a very expensive form of escapism where we worry about nothing and it's all paid for already.

that is the code we live by on vacation. at least until we get the tip bill.

Something else to consider. For us, we just find doing a bunch of TS meals wastes to much time. CS will take 45 minutes and TS is 60-90 minutes and when you multiply that by 2 or 3 meals, that is a lot of park time sitting in a restaurant. Plus, we are tied down to a schedule, that a lot of times was just inconvenient. Now if food and TS restaurants are important to you then do it, but I would still stick to standard and do the 3rd meal OOP.

Unless you are eating a lot of signature meals, I don't think the Premium Plan is worth it. The regular DP will be plenty. We don't do the DP at all anymore usually. For us, it seems to work out better to just Pay as we go. It just depends on where and what you are eating.

Agree with other posters...the meals and the snacks of the regular plan are plenty of food. We always end up with extra credits. Because for some reason at WDW everyone wants to eat breakfast, we take a small stash of granola bars, a yogurt cup or two, tortilla shells and deli meat (for walking wraps) and then we have plenty. Like others said do the math and see if it makes sense to your wallet.
