We are staying at a courtyard room at the Grosvenor, but can't decide if we want to spend the extra money to upgrade to a Tower room.

Has anyone stayed in a courtyard room and been offered an upgrade to the Tower at checkin? If so, what were you charged or offered?

Or have you stayed in a courtyard room, asked about getting upgraded to the tower (or paying to upgrade), but been rejected?

Thanks.

We had a courtyard room and pretty much begged for a Tower Room and it was tough but we finally got one for no extra charge. Now we also wanted a King room so that made it more difficult as there are not a whole lot of them.

I would probably wait til I got there and ask nicely if perhaps you could get a room in the Tower and see what they say. It probably depends alot on how busy they are too.

Depending on what time of year you are going I might not wait to upgrade. We went to meet friends over last Christmas for 1 night and a courtyard room was all that could be found anywhere! We had stayed in Tower rooms before so I didn't think it would matter. It mattered. The room we had was in SERIOUS need of refurbishing and I felt it was not as clean as it could have been.We went to the front desk sndtried to get a tower room at any price but there was nothing.Having said all that if I was going at a slow time of year I would wait and see for myself if the room was okay.I really got the feeling we were in a room that normally wasn't rented out.The front desk people there have always been very nice and you could get upgraded for free.

We are going at a slow time of year -- early February. We got a good rate for a courtyard room -- $55/night. A tower room would be $30 - 40 a night more. For $55/night the Grosvenor seems like a nice hotel with a great location. However, for $85 - 95 a night I would rather stay at one of the Disney moderates.

How'd you get $55/night? We had ressies for Grosvenor through HotelKingdom.com for $72/night, which was by far the cheapest I found for Grosvenor. I booked it, but then found $59/night at the Courtryard by Marriott (DTD). I'd rather stay at Grosvenor, though. Where did you get a $55 rate???

I got $55/night through the Entertainment book. But again, that is for courtyard (and not even a guaranteed view). Tower was $85 or $95.

How did you get the Courtyard for $59/night? The best I could get was $119.

It seems like the Downtown Disney hotels are very slow to discount rooms starting early next year.
