Upgrade at BWV!!!

We just returned from a great trip and stayed at BWV for the first time. I booked a standard view studio as it was just me, DH and DD5. And what an awesome surprise I got when I checked in and was told that I had been upgraded to a 1 bedroom. Not bad for 9 pts a night!! I was totally shocked...just didn't think this happened when you used points. Does this happen often? By the way, now I finally understand why there are so many BWV lovers out there...what a great resort! We would have loved it even if we didn't get the upgrade!

no it does not happen often at all. Usually it is due to the fact the room you booked was not available. But who knows maybe you were the recipient of a YOMD.

Either way I am sure you were thrilled.

Wow--that is great news! You are right...these upgrades are few and far between when on points.... Congrats on some unexpected magic!

Congrats on the upgrade. They are very rare, and it seems that it is usually due to rooms being unavailable for maintenance that they didn't predict to be inactive. Since the DVC system doesn't allow "overbooking" like a hotel, it is rare to see those upgrades.

Now the important question...can you go back to a studio?

Wow! Congrats! We were upgraded from a 1 bed to a 2 bed at HHI in march, but we were paying cash - you hardly ever hear of it on points!

I got an upgrade once at BWV... Not with the room size, but instead with the view... We booked a Std view, and instead got a view of Luna Park with Leaping Libations just below...

Wow!!! that is impressive - I have only heard of this happening twice before and at BWV...

I think if it was me I would have tried the Florida Lottery....you never know!!!!

This actually happened to me, my first stay ever at BWV and I was using points rented from a DVC'er. We were upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom. It was early February 2003 and the resort wasn't full, but what a wonderful first exposure to BWV! I've been back several times since and I'd never expect it to happen again, but I sure got my pixie dust on that trip!

Congrats! That is great! We had an upgrade of a room at AKL to 2 adjoining rooms. I have no idea why they did this and did not ask but it was great for us and our kids. I was very thankful. We were using points, which as you know is not cheap.
