Upgrade AP to include water park...question.

Will I lose FOP FP?

We have decided to go to see Ellen, for the dinosaurs, and GMR one more time. Our FPs got FOP are not until the trip after next week's.

If we upgrade the passes, is there a chance we would lose FOP?
 
not following as to why upgrading from gold to platinum + would affect FP+ selections.
Aren't the FPs connected to MB and your admission tickets. When I upgrade, the tickets are not the same. Am I worrying over nothing?
 
well--from personal experience on my last trip, I had 7 day park hoppers that I had all my FP+ selections on -- I then upgraded to the gold AP right when we got to the MK on day one. None of my FP+ got messed up at all.

Also -- there have been quite a few people reporting that they successfully upgraded their gold to platinum without any problems -- and I haven't heard of anyone saying that their FP+ selections have been messed up yet. The only issue I've heard people mention is that sometimes their 13 month AP got switched to a 12 month when they upgraded. They just had to remind the CM to make sure that the expiration date stayed the same.

I think the FP+ selections are actually tied to your profile and not the actual ticket itself. I'm guessing the system just checks to make sure you have a valid ticket entitlement when you're booking the FP+. I could be wrong of course.

Well, the experience you had is certainly comforting, thank you. Those FOP FPs were hard to come by! At 60 days out, nothing, then kept checking, and at 40 days out, I got them. We were at DVC preview of Pandora, but the day we were there, the ride was down practically the whole morning. We had to leave, we were on DCl's Transatlantic cruise, so reluctantly, we never got to use the FPs. I really do not want to miss out again!

When we upgraded we were all holding fop FP and didn't lose them.

Are you saying when I arrive In August and activate/upgrade my 13 month gold that I purchased in October to the Platinum they are now offering could be good for 13 months as well and not 12. I was deciding whether to stick with the gold because of the 13 months or get the Platinum for 12 because it had water parks included. We never travel during the blackout dates ( I hate crowds) but would like to always go in Mid to late August when Southern schools are back in session. I thought if I upgraded I would have to go next summer before I arrived this summer which I could do but prefer not to. This is definitely worth asking about now.

my understanding is that your gold pass after upgrading should have the same expiration date as before.

From all reports it's been a mixed bag and not everyone has gotten it bumped up to 13 months. I'd double check and make certain the CM you are working with can and will make the expiration 13 months if you'd need to have that.
