Upgrade an unactivated AP: 13 months?

I purchased a Platinum Pass in July but haven't activated it yet. The jury seems to be out on whether activating a pre-purchased AP voucher between Oct. 2 and Jan. 1 will result in a 13 month pass. If it turns out that activation during the window does not receive the bonus month, is it possible to upgrade a Platinum Pass voucher to a Platinum Plus pass in order to receive the bonus month?
