Updt 07/26 Pictures, food and more 8 days at POP

I love that last fireworks pic too!

Great report! Sounds like a great trip! That Pluto did look a little crazy! LOL!

After dinner we decided to walk around the world, the rain had finally stopped and I love walking around all the countries.

This was one of the left over flowers and Garden toparies

100_1506.jpg

We were sad because Off Kilter was not performing, so we watched the British explosion, then went over to Japan, as my DS just loves this country. Really the store. We went to ride Malstrom but the line was too long, it was getting late and we wanted to watch Illuminations, so we found a great seat on the edge of the lagoon, got some drinks and waited. It was a nice night, as the rain cooled things off.

The sunset was beautiful

100_1508.jpg

100_1507.jpg

I love this firework display, but my camera doesnt really take very good pix of them.

100_1519-1.jpg

100_1520-1.jpg

After Illuminations, we decided to try Malstrom again :scared1:

The line was pretty short, I think maybe we waited all of 10 minutes, I was so happy because this is one of my favs. :thumbsup2

We got into our boat, and started our wonderful ride, we got to the point where the Troll sets you going backwards, and you feel like your going to go outside into the park, and the ride stops at that very moment.

We were in the second row, my DH, DS and me. The first row had a family of two children and two parents, and the seat behind us had two young girls. We sat there for about 5 minutes, and then the announcements started coming over the loudspeaker, that they were having a problem with the ride, and to please stay seated, blah, blah, blah. Ok we've had rides break down before (Splash Mtn, etc.) so we waited, and waited, and waited, the announcements kept comming. After about a half of an hour, they said cast members would soon be coming to us. What???????????? We had never heard that before. Well all of a sudden all the lights come on and a couple of maintenence guys come walking up to us, and tell us that they have to turn the water off and we will have to climb out of the boats and walk down. :lmao: I couldnt help it, I just started to laugh, The guys told us to just sit tight, and please do not try to get out of the boats on our own, You think !!!!!!!! They also told us due to safety issues they( big men), could not help us get out of the boats. We had to wait for "the real help" to come assist us. Well after another 15 minutes they turned the water off and the boats started to lower as the water level went down. Finally these two young women came up to our boat dressed in the Norweigen garb, I think they worked in the store, and said they were going to help get us out. Again I just started to laugh at the obserdity of it all.

100_1539.jpg

They come over to our boat and tell us to grab thier hand and climb out and over to the walkway. What????????? Your going to help us, and there isnt a ramp or anything????? Ok, time to get out the camera, they kept us moving the entire time, so my pix arent as clear as I would have liked them, but here are the shots I tried to get.

100_1534.jpg

My DS just loved this, my DH not so much. :lmao:

100_1536.jpg

Tried to get pix of the back of the Polar bears.

100_1538.jpg

The funny part was we were the furthest boat so they got us first, then we stopped while these two girls got everyone else out of their boats as we walked along.

We finaly get out to the boarding area and they give us each a fast pass, thats it ? :confused3 After being stuck in this boat for over an hour and you are giving me a fast pass for Malstrom? :rotfl2:

I guess the worst part of this was that it happened during extra magic hours, and a good part of ours were spent on this ride.

After we got outside, we decided to go over to ride Soarin one more time and then DH and DS decided they were hungry, so before we head home, we stop at the Electric Umbrella.( I guess all that climbing gave them an appetite.

My DS had what else ? Chicken Breast Nuggets with fries

100_1548.jpg

DH had the Bacon Double Cheeseburger - with fries

100_1549.jpg

I had the Double Cheeseburger with fries

100_1550.jpg

For desert chocolate chip cookies and cheesecake.

100_1551.jpg

After our very late dinner, it was back to POP, Tommorow we are off to Animal Kingdom.

Really???That's it??? I mean I don't think they should have handed you the key to the Castle or anything drastic like that - but maybe 3 fast passes? Or 1 fast pass and a Disney shirt!! An hour stuck in a ride is a long time!

Well, anyway, no one was hurt and that is always the most important part!

Laughing off all of those 'odd' procedures is all you can do to keep your sanity!!

I can't wait for more!!......popcorn:: ....

It was kind of fun, just thought maybe we would get a fast pass to any ride:lmao:

My daughter and I had to get rescued off of Test Track two years ago. Worst part we were stuck on the back part up at the highest angle and we were the ones at the top of the car. It was an Extra Magic Hours night too and it was almost 11 pm. We went from 60 to 0 in about 3 feet. They gave us the Fast Passes too.

We call that our most unique Disney moment.

It is kind of a fun experience, always wondered how they would handle this. It is fun to see these rides with the lights on and the back of everything. :thumbsup2

Coming up Flame Tree and Cape May

We got up early to try to make the rope drop at AK, decide we will get breakfast there. ;)

We were still taking our car everywhere, so we drove over, but again were a little late for rope drop, my DH said his hip was hurting and he was walking reallllll slow. I felt bad, but really wanted him to move it along. :rotfl: (maybe from climbing out of the boat at Malstrom ?)

This was some sort of reptile we saw on our way in.

100_1563.jpg

100_1556-1.jpg

The first thing my DH and DS wanted to do was run ? over to EE to get fast passes.

100_1560.jpg

The line was already a 30 minute wait, so we got thier fastpasses ( Im not quite brave enough to ride this one ) and decided to find someplace to eat breakfast. Well, little did I know there really isnt anyplace to get breakfast unless you have an ADR at Tusker House,, or Rainforest Cafe and we didnt. We decided to stop at Kusafiri Coffee shop, We had blueberry muffins and coffee. Not a great idea, the coffee was horrible and they do not have any utensils, and the muffins were very moist, what a mess :sad2:

After we ate it was time for their fast passes, so off to EE we went. It was already getting very hot. This park is one of my favorites, but a real hot day it is unbearable.

100_1559.jpg

I found a place in some shade and off they went to see the Yeti. It seemed like there were people all around me that had won dreams, YOAMD ears, lanyards, fast passes every where I looked, It was as though someone was saying " NO DREAMS FOR YOU" :)

They were back before I knew it, this is my DH's favorite ride in Disney. He was very happy.

We decided to go on Dinasaur next, but when we got there it was broken, this ride seems to break down a lot. So we went to Kali River Rapids, it was so hot it would be nice to cool off a little. It doesnt seem to matter what seat I take at this ride, I am always the one that gets drenched. :rotfl: I do really like this ride, it is a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

Next it was on to see Nemo, but the line was already sooooo long, and the show didnt start for another half of an hour, so we decided to pass. This is one show I have never seen, but it was not to be on this trip either.

We walked along the Maharajah Jungle Trek, it was very hot, but this was a nice walk because alot of it is in the shade. :thumbsup2

We saw some bats.

100_1566.jpg

Some tigers.

100_1568.jpg

Some type of Deer I think.

100_1574.jpg

A cm told me these were a type of Pidgeon, couldnt get a really good shot of thier heads, but they were beautiful.

100_1578.jpg

And of course some monkeys.

100_1579.jpg

This particular day seemed really hotter then all the other days we were there, we had dinner ADR's at Yak and Yeti, but I knew we were never gonna make them. It was just too hot and tooooo crowded, this was the only park during our 8 days that seemed just too crowded. We decided to have lunch at The Flame Tree because we had never tried it and heard it was good.

DH and I had the 1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs served with baked beans and corn muffin

100_1581.jpg

DS had the Smoked 1/2 Chicken served with baked beans and corn muffin

100_1580.jpg

For desert we had the Frozen Minute Maid Lemonade and Key Lime Pie.

100_1582.jpg

The food here was good as we had heard, the ribs were to die for, and my DS really liked the chicken. The only thing I didnt really like was that it was all outdoor seating, and on a real hot Florida day, not my idea of comfortable. They do have big fans over head so that did help a little. After we ate we decided it was just too crowded and too hot to stay so we decided to go back to POP for a swim, and so I could so some laundry, and have a drink at Petals..

Didnt think to take any pictures at the pool :confused3 I ordered a Frozen strawberry daquiri and my DH had a beer, my DS really hates it when I drink, maybe 4 times a year, and he thinks Im a lush. :rotfl: I went to put in my laundry, and a cm came in and asked me how many wasing machines I needed, I told him 3 and he put coins in all three for me. :goodvibes So I guess that was my dream while I was there , free laundry. :rotfl: He was really very nice and I was very appreciative. While my laundry was washing I went back to my waiting adult beverage, and my DS and DH went into the pool, they only stayed in a few minutes and were back out before I knew it.

My DS went to get himself a frozen coke, he absolutely lovveedd these and while he was gone a little boy comes running out of the pool to his mom and dad who were enjoying a few adult beverages of thier own, and said "they found another poop" and Im thinking what do you mean another poop? Within seconds CMS come from every direction. They had the pool cleared of guests within a minute. It was like something out of a movie, all these sanitary workers, with hazmat gear, they closed the pool and began to vacuum the entire pool, and what ever else they needed to do to clean it. EEWWWW. We were still there for about an hour and they never reopened it. After my laundry was done we decided to go back to the room and get changed, on the way I stopped at Concierge to cancel my Yak and Yeti ADrs and see what was available that night at other parks. We wound up with a reservation at Cape May on the Boardwalk, we had been there before, and decided to give it another go. We were going to HS for the night, and knew you could take a boat over from there to Cape May.

We got back to HS and I saw this street show I had never seen before, I wish I could remember this girls name, she was very funny, and the cop was hysterical too.

100_1590.jpg

100_1589.jpg

Ds and DH went on TOT, I did the walk thru with them, but then I take the chicken exit. There was no line, and before you knew it they were done. We did our favorites, The Great Movie Ride, Muppet Vision 3D, Ds and DH did Star Tours. Toy Story Mania line was very long, and no more fast passes so we did not get to go on this. :sad1:

We took the boat ride over to the Boardwalk, its a very nice ride, and we were getting hungry. We got to Cape May about 10 minutes before our Adr, and they seated us pretty quickly. I knew my DH was not that crazy about this restaurant last time we were there, so I was a little nervous that he would be disapointed again. But not this time, he was very happy with the selection of food, and everything seemed to be fresh.

OK, so the lush has a second Strawberry Daquiri. :lmao:

100_1599.jpg

New England Clam Chowder, Ceaser Salad, and an assortment of other things on my DH's plate.

100_1597.jpg

Caesar and Seafood Salads, very good

100_1600.jpg

Shrimp and mushrooms. yummyy
100_1601.jpg

DS's plate of Chicken, corn, pizza and macaroni and cheese.

100_1598.jpg

Clams, Ribs, Corn, Macaroni and cheese to die for.

100_1602.jpg

Mussells, clams, broccolini and prime rib

100_1603.jpg

More Shrimp

100_1604.jpg

Prime rib, macaroni and Cheese and green beans.

100_1605.jpg

Oreo Bon bons, Cheesecake, Brownie, and Choc. chip cookie

100_1606.jpg

Blondie, key lime pie, Oreo bon bon, and choc chip cookie

100_1607.jpg

The special anniversary desert they gave us. Sort of a chocolate cupcake with warm fudge filling in the middle. Very good

100_1609.jpg

This was a very good meal, and we would not hesitate to go back on our next trip :thumbsup2

After dinner, it was time to call it a night, and back to POP we went. Tomomorow is Magic Kingdom, Columbia house and Grand Floridian Cafe.

We get up and decide to have breakfast at POP. ( seems like this trip report is becoming more about food ) :lmao: We have given up on the hopes of ever making a rope drop. Try as we might it just never happened.

We decided to try several things and share ;

Childrens platter, bacon eggs and grapes

100_1617-1.jpg

Childrens Mickey Waffles.

100_1618-1.jpg

Cheese omelet with home fries.

100_1619-1.jpg

Platter of home fries

100_1620-1.jpg

Ds's one final attempt at a well rounded breakfast.

100_1621-1.jpg

The food here was pretty good, biggest problem to keep it warm while you find a table and get your drinks. Tip here is to get it "to go" that way you have a fighting chance. ;)

This was going to be our first try at the buses at POP. After breakfast we walk out to the front of Classic Hall and it seemed there were buses for everywhere except MK. Finaly one showed up ( after 10 min only) and off we went. Really enjoyed that they drop you off at the MK, no need to take a monorail, or boat. :thumbsup2

100_1622-1.jpg

Jump on the train to get to the back of the park to try Splash Mtn, first thing.

Riding past BTMRR

100_1634.jpg

We get to Splash, no wait, and get right on, this time, no breakdown. :yay:

A little late - but I'm subscribing!

Great pix of the ride breakdown in Norway. We just returned from out trip and were stuck on Splash Mountain for about 15 minutes - thought my DD was going to have a heart attack! Lord knows what she would have done if we had been stuck for an hour!:scared1:

I agree - you certainly deserved more than they gave you; that was a precious hour of park time wasted there.

We did most of the usual things at MK, haunted mansion, small world,

000_0055.jpg

I want to live here.:goodvibes

100_1632.jpg

I had never seen this band before, they were very good.

100_1625.jpg

100_1628.jpg

We decided to go to Columbia Harbour House for a quick snack,

DH and I shared this.

Bowl of New England Clam Chowder

100_1638.jpg

and this

Apple Crisp

100_1639.jpg

DH of course had his usual chicken nuggets and fries. :lmao:

100_1640.jpg

My DH always want to ride on this boat, and for some reason we can never seem to do it.

000_0056.jpg

Wasnt meant to be this trip either.:sad2: Started to rain, and lots of lightning, so they cancelled the boat.

000_0057.jpg

I had never been on IASW when the clock went off, very cute.

000_0059.jpg

A castle picture right before the rain came, even now, it still looks beautiful to me.
000_0068.jpg

Since it was raining we went over to Guest Services to see what was available for dinner as we did not have an ADR :scared1:

Thanks for reading ,

Have to admit it was kind of fun, to see all the backstage kind of stuff. :)

I am going to try to update later, Grand Floridian Cafe dinner review.

I have really enjoyed reading your tr. I'm glad you didn't let the negative really bother you. You were in WDW! gotta love that! (but I agree they could have done better after an hour sitting in a boat!) I love your pictures. That last fireworks one was beautiful, mine never work out. And for some reason the castle looks even more beautiful.:wizard:

I know, I must be crazy to want a TS meal and without an ADR !

Were off to guest services, and I ask what is available for dinner in the park tonight ?:rotfl2:

The cm was very sweet, and said there wasnt anything available in the park, so of course I asked about Chef Mickeys, nope nothing, ok how about Park Fare, not available, then she mentioned the Grand Floridian Cafe, We had never heard about this place, but she showed us a menu, and it looked good so we said ok. ( be careful, when guest services show you a menu, they are not always up to date, the actual menu at the restaurant was very different ;) )

On the monorail we hop off to The Grand Floridian. Our ADR was for 730pm and we got there about 20 minutes early. The restaurant was pretty empty but they did not seat us till exactly 730. :confused3

We waited outside on the Veranda with our pager and people watched.

100_1642.jpg

The restaurant is very pretty, and the cms all very nice. Our waiter saw our anniversary buttons and brought us complimentary champagne along with the bread.

100_1643.jpg

DH started off with the Ceasar Salad, he really enjoyed it.

100_1644.jpg

I had a salad ( I forgot what it is called) with Blue cheese and nuts, and strawberries, it is not on the AllEars menu, but it was really yummy.

000_0069.jpg

DS skipped an appetizer and went right for the Cheeseburger with Fries.

000_0070.jpg

My DH ordered the NY strip, but they were out and instead we both had the Grilled Sirloin, with Fries, and greenbeans. It was very good.

000_0071.jpg

It was almost time for Wishes, and I asked if we could see it from inside the restaurant, the waiter explained we could from the back, or there are tables outside and if we wanted we could have desert out there and watch them. :thumbsup2

So we ordered our Chocolate Fondu and out we went. He was a very nice young man, and brought our desert out to us.

000_0073.jpg

This was verrryyyy good.

Wishes was beautiful, but not as nice as watching it from Main St. You can really see how far off they shoot the fireworks from the Castle. The Castle was on our right and the fireworks off to our left. Still very pretty though.:cutie:

Before dinner our waiter took our picture, and then after dinner as we were leaving he gave us a card with the picture in it as a keepsake, Very nice idea !

GrandFloridianCafe-2.jpg

As we walked thru the Grand Floridian, I tried to get the you have to have it picture of my DS on the stairs.

000_0074.jpg

Didnt come out as good as I had hoped, guess my flash didnt go off.:sad1:

After Wishes we went back to the MK, as it was EMH and we wanted to ride Splash Mt one more time. :lmao: This was our third time to MK and we had not seen the Electric Parade, so after Splash we watched from the front of Country Bears and it was as beautiful as ever ( sorry no pic).

Tommorow we are off to Epcot for one last time

Enjoying the report and photos. Can't believe your experience on Malstrom! Wow! :scared1:

Just found your report. Loving it. You take really great pictures. Your food Porn is making me hungry. I too love that last fireworks shot, that's the kind I'm always trying to get. I would have hated the wait but do love seeing the behind the scenes stuff. Keep it coming. :surfweb:

By the way what type of camera do you have?

Cheryl:cheer2:

Friday and our second to last day, makes me so sad

We get up in hopes of getting to Epcot early, and decide to have breakfast at the land.

100_1648.jpg

The egg, bacon and cheese croisant breakfast sandwich was really good, and the chocolate muffin, omg.

Since this was our last full day in the world, we wanted to get in as much as possible, and it was the sounds of summer concert with 2U a U2 cover band that my DH really wanted to see, and we had dinner ADR's at Tutto Italia, So much to see and do and so little time.

100_1653.jpg

We decided to spend most of our day at World Showcase, so we did a quick ride on Soarin, and Test Track, and then went over to the World. I took this picture on our walk my DS said that was TOT in the background Im not sure.

100_1654.jpg

I guess we had never really gone into the China Pavailion before, but since we decided to have lunch there we decided to walk around. There is this really pretty little park on the side that I had never seen before.

100_1660.jpg

We decided to have Lunch at the Lotus Blossom Cafe,

My DH and DS had Orange Chicken with Steamed Rice

100_1656.jpg

They both said this was very good.

I had the Shrimp Fried Rice with Egg Roll

100_1655.jpg

I was surprised how good this was, and the egg roll was not greasy at all.

For desert we had Red Bean Ice Cream

100_1657.jpg

Have to admit, this was pretty gross. :scared:

After lunch we walked around , and were just in time to see Mo rockin

100_1666.jpg

100_1668.jpg

I really enjoy them. They are a lot of fun to watch. ;)

Then it was time for 2U. My DH's favorite band is U2 so he was really looking forward to this.

100_1664.jpg

The lead singer had a lot of Bono's mannerisms (sp?) down pretty good.

100_1665.jpg

It was a lot of fun, even my DS enjoyed it.

My DH loves this train setup in Germany

100_1684.jpg

It was time for our dinner reservations at Tutto Italia so off we went.

100_1678.jpg

Still trying to figure out what this smoke looking stuff in this picture ?

I have to be honest, I have heard so many negative things about this restaurant, but we loved it. The service was wonderful, the CM's terrific, and the food was to die for.

First they bring out a relish tray, and olive oil with bread.

100_1669.jpg

I started off with a Ceaser salad (of course), DH and DS just wanted bread.

100_1670.jpg

This was probably the best Ceaser salad I had the whole time we were away.
It was fresh, very large and Delic.....

For our entrees DH had Lasagna al Forno with meat ragu, bechamel and parmesan cheese

100_1672.jpg

This looked wonderful and he loved every bite.

DS had Spaghetti - veal meatballs and pomodoro sauce

100_1671.jpg

He is a pretty picky eater, but he ate every bite. Said he really enjoyed it.

I had Chicken with Mozzarella cheese,( sort of a chicken parm) broccolini and potatoes

100_1673.jpg

This was to die for.

For desert my DS had a Cannoli

100_1674.jpg

I was kind of jealous when I saw it, but he ate every bit.

DH had Gianduja - Chocolate Torta - chocolate and hazelnut torte with whipped cream and raspberry sauce

100_1675.jpg

Said it was delic.

and I had Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce

100_1676.jpg

OMG, If I could have licked the bowl, I would have.

I know there are rumors that this place is closing and is supposed to reopen as something else, but we loved it, and would go back again on our next trip as long as it is the same. :thumbsup2

We watched Illuminations and decided to call it a night, as we had to pack up as we were leaving tommorow. I had requested a late checkout from POP and they gave us till 130 which was nice, that way we could sleep in a little and not have to rush around. Our trip to WDW was almost over.

Great food pics! It does look soooo yummy!

So sad we are at the last day. Hate when a trip comes to the end!
