I have had the opportunity to see the cabin development twice this year as i made visits to my home resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge. I am curious on the progress they have made in the recent few months however. Does anyone have any info on their development and possibly and opening date? I am very interested. Thanks.

Nothing official. DVC has indicated they will open this year and they also sent out an email stating people should contact their guides for more info on them. That apparently was premature but probably means they will be going on sale fairly soon.

Any idea what the price point is going to be when they start selling?

I rented a pontoon boat last week and rode around Bay Lake to look at them closer from the water.

The ones over on the Contemporary side are still FAR from completion. Some still did not have roofing material yet. They're also really, really close to the water. The construction debris fence was literally in the water there. I'd suspect these are going to be kind of loud, as the water right in front of them is a narrow transit area for the ferry boats from Seven Seas Lagoon (MK to WL, MK to FTC) to Bay Lake.

The ones on the Fort Wilderness side are a lot closer to completion. They looked pretty much all closed in, with gangs of workers visible in the area. The Fort Wilderness side ones seemed to have more space between the porch and the water.

On both sets of cabins, I wonder if they will be putting up a fence to prevent wildlife from exiting Bay Lake and taking up residence on the porches and lawns of the cabins?

TheTimTracker released a video today that was at WL and showed a little bit of some of the cabins. Just FYI in case you wanted to take a look.

I am anxious for the construction to be completed and the cabins available for use. I am a long time DVC member, but have never stayed at Wilderness Lodge. I think my next visit will be one of the cabins.

There is mention in the thread that is reporting on filing of the declarations that the cabins will be less costly per night than the Poly bungalows, based on the maximum reallocation number provided in the declarations; note, however, that number also indicates that the cabin's nightly cost will be more than the GVs at BLT, so be prepared for a high point cost per night for any cabin stay.

IMO only the cabins in front of the main pool look interesting. The others will be a walk to the lodge and the view from the ones towards the monorail are of an island.
