So, pricing that out it's $42. If you have the antipasto (assume two people) that would add $11, and you're over the $45 "credit" for Platinum. This assumes the 6oz steak. The 8oz steak adds $7. If you have the 8oz steak you're over $45 even without the antipasto.
To me it's not really the cost. It's the continuous erosion of Platinum, and castaway benefits.
I’d like to see the official
DCL wording regarding the complementary Palo dinner for Platinum loyalty cruisers.
On several unofficial websites, it is phrased, “Platinum
Castaway Club members and those adults in their stateroom will continue to be offered one complimentary meal at Palo, either brunch or dinner; at dinner, the prix fixe menu will be included (regular price of $45 per person). Additional items beyond the prix fixe menu may be added at an additional charge.” (wdwnt, Disneycruiselineblog).
I read that as - you get the prix fixe meal. Anything else is extra - not that we can pick and choose and get the first $45 of items complementary. I would like that to be the case. The prix fixe reduces me to steak and soufflé. Bye, bye, white bean soup. And no antipasto cart?
It seems a good way to reduce Platinum cruisers from filling up the restaurant, thus allowing
paying customers a chance to dine. Or we just continue to go, eat our filet and soufflé, still locking out revenue-earning diners.
